Imagine how different it would be if police spent less time fining motorists for 3km/hr over the limit and more time catching actual criminals.
My company was targetted by a scammer who spent $5650 with us using a stolen credit card. We have their names, phone numbers, two bank accounts and guess who is interested? NOBODY. The police dont want to know. The bank doesnt care because they just charge the supplier. But steal $100 from a bank and you will get arrested.
My disdain for police is based on experience that they are at best, well-intention but stupid but more often, both stupid and uncaring. Until you speed.
No money in it.... watching the last part of 'first Contact' last night, and David Oldfield continually stuck to the line that if there was no material benefit in it, it was worthless... same kind of reasoning applies here - why spend millions chasing corporate crooks and scammers when all you need do is hand out a ticket for a few hundred to any passing motorist in the full knowledge that even if he/she did NOT do it, they can't fight it?
Been assaulted that way myself while doing a security run at night, alone..... amazing but true.... a corrupt cop can get away with anything... because the 'courts' allow them to. Perhaps hanging one in ten magistrates once in a while will bring them to their senses.. and to the realities of LAW, and not just pure bullying.
Sheriff of Nottingham....... only they rob the highways.... should change 'Highway Patrol' to 'Highwaymen'.
