This is not a criticism of these poor people - it's merely an observation but, why would you participate in a press conference?

"At a press conference in Canberra, Shayne Goodchild was joined by his daughter's husband ... "

If this had happened to my family, the media would be the last thing on my mind. The absolute dead last thing.

I don't get this obsession people have with sharing every aspect of their lives with strangers (Facebook, etc.).

Anyway, if this helps those poor people, good luck to them.

Same.

Years ago, a dear friend of mine lost her 3yr old to a house fire. While we were there trying to salvage what we could the media were everywhere. It fell on me to deal with them.

They got told to bugger off a lot.
