In one of the documents, from October 2012, a safety inspector from the Australian Institute for the Certification of Inspection Personnel said the park did not produce evidence of having a quality management system in place.

His report declared 13 rides, including the Thunder River Rapids, "not fit for service" over their air receivers, or compressors, which needed to be registered.

However, the State Government ruled soon after that the air receivers, which is not suggested to be linked to Tuesday's accident, did not need to be registered separately to the amusement ride.

Despite the State Government's ruling, the inspector Shaun Langdon told the ABC that his concerns about safety remained, because no accident plan to resolve issues had been put in place.

Are you letting management off the hook for not doing everything to gold standard? I'll call the guy I met today who used to be a board member and tell them they're in the clear.

I would think they have had a lot of pay outs all the same..

these all seem pretty serious to me...and the fact no one has died before now...doesnt seem to be thanks to the management.   more like luck.

you don't go 30 yrs without a death in these sorts of parks if you are relying on luck

Luna Park had about a 45 year run without a death.

Then, seven deaths on the ghost train - horrible stuff.

Most were kids too.

They shut down for a few years after that fire.

and in my opinion, the rides at Luna Park were pretty tame compared to dream world.

Mind you, I chickened out of some of those too! Cheesy Cheesy

I did them all and the one that blew me away was the tower of terror and the giant drop , the tower of terrors acceleration is bloody impressive , so impressive I actually thought we were going to shoot off the top of tower , haven't done the backwards car as yet .

The giant drop has an amazing view , the last 3m before you finally hear that clink are torture to wait for

I'm not letting anyone off the hook. I said earlier if this is a result of mgmt cutting maintenance in order to save money, they should be made to pay (not just financially).

However that doesn't absolve everyone else from their responsibilities

All proceeds are going to charity (Red Cross).

I believe that the directors just gave themselves an $800,000 bonus this week..

"The meeting also voted on a proposal to give Ms Thomas a performance bonus, in shares currently valued at more than $800,000.

"Ardent Leisure chairman Neil Balnaves said that it was not appropriate to discuss Ms Thomas's bonus.

"It is just inappropriate to talk about commercial matters at this point in time. And I don't want to comment any further on it."

Ah, yes - the old 'business in confidence' scam, eh?

I say hang her by the tits until she confesses to being just another incompetent asshole handed a free ride for doing nothing.

A little water-boarding goes a long way.....

Or at least show her the door she so richly deserves.

BTW - whose missus is she to hold this fabulous position for doing Farkall?

Dreamworld's CEO says she is donating thousands of dollars to charity, after coming under fire at her company's AGM for failing to contact the families of victims in the aftermath of this week's tragedy.

Deborah Thomas, the CEO of Dreamworld's parent company Ardent Leisure, said she would give her $167,500 annual bonus to the Red Cross, to be spent on the families of the four people killed on the Thunder River Rapids ride on Tuesday.

good on her.

well I dont know who the guy was that spoke.. I just assumed he would be the chair.. thats all..

I will butt out of this thread as it is so tragic I dont believe it should be turned into lets gets cods at all costs thread...

and we all know certain folks cant help themselves..

its far more import to take pot shots at cods than it is to feel any pain for the families of those that have lost their lives..

Sky News reporter Elizabeth Tilley was looking sexier than usual reporting from Dream World. I believe she has lost a little weight and is doing both yoga and Pilates. Very do-able was my only thought.
