There are some very good Mixed Martial Arts Aussies who get a lot of work in the US. If they could fill the prelims with these guys it would be worth an evening out at ringside.
Boxing has just about had its day. It's all Mixed Martial Arts nowadays.
Nothing less than top billing with a Cassius Clay or a Mike Tyson will get audiences buying tickets in large numbers.
But for every really good boxer there are a dozen
very skilled and entertaining mixed martial arts fighters on the US circuit, involving the best fighters from all around the world.
Dagestan and Brazil produce some of the best of them - also Poland.
I haven't a clue who is the current heavy weight boxing champion of the world, and that's because they all soon get knocked off their pedestal by a challenger. A real champ is one who stays World Champion for YEARS against all contenders.
Tyson would have killed Clay for no other reason than that he only had to
land a punch to the body and then the head for the fight to be over. His punch was like being kicked in the head by a cart-horse.
