I don't believe Gordon needs a mask. Its real face is scary enough.

Every day is halloween at Gordon's house.

Shall I be the first one to call it a stupid American thing, and then let someone correct me and say it isn't American at all?

Went to Coles this morning, and they're selling big ass orange pumpkins for making jack-o'-lanterns.

Kiddies' costumes all over the place in the shopping centre.

Not sure I would have let my kids knock on doors and take candy from strangers when they were younger.

So you're ok with multiculturalism when it's from a non Anglo race?

Halloween is fun. There's usually a few street parties in my hood with bbqs and people out having fun. Kids dressing funny and hanging out with their friends....all good.  The Americans take it to extremes (as they tend to do with most things) we just do the nice low key Aussie version.

I'm not asking for Halloween to be banned.

As I have said on so many occasions: I live and let live.

Anyway, I live in a secure complex that can't be accessed by the general public, so the little ankle-biters can't come knocking on my door.

I'll disconnect my buzzer that night. What night is it?

It's BYO

reminds me of one Christmas eve at my grandparents village in Italy in 2000 ... all the guys go around singing an Italian Christmas song, and at each house you down a beer or a shot, supplied by the home owner. .... it was one of the best Christmas eves' ever

Yeah.....they really missed out when they knew nothing about it.  I feel deprived, and that I deprived my kids.

Aussies are very quick to put down Halloween as American bulssheet but the reason it works there is because they are so friendly, open and neighbourly.  When I lived in the USA as a kid people literally baked pies for new neighbours .

I agree and I have spent plenty of time there.  Amazing and friendly people that Aussie's could certainly learn a lot from with regards to community, being neighbourly and helpful and general politeness.

Their big day cookouts are amazing.  They know how to have fun and can't do enough for you if you are an Australian.

Australians, by comparison, are rude, cynical, stuffy and unhelpful.

Your kids are either ancient or lived under a rock.   Halloween was celebrated here even when I was a kid.
