Tax office can't be emailed
Oct 22nd, 2016 at 8:40am

I am having so much trouble with the tax office.
All their emails to me have the reply address as

mailto:noreply@ato.gov.au

I spoke to them on the phone 2 months ago -
they sent me a letter - I replied by ordinary mail
& I was supposed to get a reply via mail & got nothing -
still the issue is not resolved.

When I tried to resolve it online all I got was
"your request cannot be completed right now"

When you speak to them on the phone all you get is some clown who promises but never delivers.

I am fed up with the tax dept.
If you could just send them & correspond by email - send word documents etc
it could all be solved straight away.

I've always found them very easy to work with.

You can always go through your accountant

I'll phone them one more time & let's see.

I may have to go through an accountant.

Snail mail is the only way unless your tax accountant is handling issues for you.
They have lists of direct contacts within the ATO in order to get matters expedited.

Bobby, they are isolating you and setting you up for a big smackdown.

They would waterboard your mother if they thought they could get an extra $0.10 out of you.

You need to lodge a complaint with the Inspector General of Taxation.

If everybody complained when the ATO misbehave, their behavior would soon change.

Never send word documents, send PDFs using the Microsoft print to PDF function. Word documents can be altered which can lead to disputes over who altered them; ATO or Taxpayer.

If the snail mail continues and you don't want to complain to IGT, address your mail to the Commissioner of Taxation by name and make it certified mail.

That will fix the problem because the Commissioner doesn't like being disturbed and will make that known forcefully to the ATO operative responsible for the problem.

You should lodge a formal complaint. Apparently ATO has caused you distress by their negligence and incompetence.

The principle of delaying resolution is one of their tools for making Taxpayers surrender by the process of distress.

These people are on bonuses for increasing the tax take and will do anything to make more money.

The phone call ended up well but it still seems up in the air -
still waiting on them to send me a letter.

Once again - if only you could email them & let them sort it out that way -
it would be so much easier.

They don't want evidence which is what the email represents.

Plus, attending to emails will reduce their facebook and internet surfing time.

Yes - if they sent you an email it could
be used in court against them so they prefer to say
non-binding words over the phone.

Basically they have my money & I can't get it back till next year's tax return.
They get to use my money for a whole year interest free.
In fact I will have to pay interest on it because it can't go
towards my mortgage.

Also - the 4 hours or more of my time that I've wasted over their mistake is not claimable.

Funny how it always seems to favor them.  Huh
