If that's the case, then it will be very interesting to see what happens in the summer of 2017 here in our area, of orchardists, vineyards, strawberry growers etc.
They all rely on their seasonal pickers that come in to work.
It's not easy work, it's out in the hot sun, physical work. Then in the packing sheds, standing on the feet all day.
They are paid by the hour, and makes it worth it, but with this tax, taking one third, will not be worth the bother.
I ask, why fix something that isn't broken?
Oh yeah, it's the Government that's broke.
Usually, anyone on newstart allowance (or the dole as some put it), have to now work 2 days a week voluntarily, if they want to keep that allowance.
Maybe the seasonal backpack pickers will be replaced by those on newstart allowance? But that's only 2 days a week.
And I can't see how anyone without any experience in the fields, can cope with that, or give good results the orchardists and farmers need.
Well, here's to seeing how it all pans out for Summer of 2017 and thereafter.
This will send the farmers broke, just like the stupid Government is.
