Global warming caused last mass extinction
Aug 27th, 2016 at 12:26pm

Is another mass extinction event around the corner? Will the oceans die from CO2 acidity, high temperature or from strangulation by plastics?

http://www.natureworldnews.com/articles/27493/20160826/artic-study-reveals-world...

Quote:
A study reveals that the world's last mass extinction happened because of global warming. This mass extinction, called the Great Dying Event, saw the demise of 96 percent of marine species and 70 percent of terrestrial life.

Jochen Knies, a researcher at CAGE who conducted the study in the Arctic, said the cause of this mass extinction is an "explosive event of volcanic eruptions" that happened in Siberia. He also said that amounts of volatiles such as carbon dioxides and methane were emitted by several eruptions that lasted for a million years. This emission made our planet "unbearably hot" during that time, Heritage Daily reports.

The Great Dying Event happened 252 million years ago, and it took nine million years after for life on Earth to recover from the catastrophe. The new study found clues in the Arctic and can now reveal why it took such a long time for recovery.

"What used to be the northwestern continental margin of the super continent Pangaea is now Canadian High Arctic. There we found evidence in geological records for a significant nutrient gap during this period. This means that global oceans were severely poor in nutrients such as nitrogen," Knies said via Science Daily.

During the Great Dying, the oceans' temperature (thermoclines) and nutrients (nutricline) suffered greatly because of high temperatures. Oceans are not a single body of water. There are actually layers and boundaries that are based on thermoclines and nutriclines. Both thermoclines and nutriclines deepened, ceasing the upwelling of nutrients from the bottom of the oceans. As a result, marine algae productivity decreased, crumbiling down the base of the food chain.

Only around six to seven million years after the extinction did the oceans started cooling off. The boundaries that prevented nutrients from going up to the surface were weakened. This paved way for the nutrients to return to the surface and sustain life again.

The study also proves how global warming can affect marine ecosystems in the long haul. The Great Dying Event or Permian-Triassic mass extinction has reset evolution. After this event, dinosaurs came but they also died out due to another mass extinction.  The study notes that it's possible that humanity is facing another impending mass extinction due to human activity.

Only 252 million years ago. I wonder what caused that? Oh, Volcanic eruptions. Aren't they now supposed to cause cooling?

And then of course they found nutrient deficiencies and concluded that was because of temperature.

...

http://www.scotese.com/climate.htm

A lot of supposition. I wonder what the error bars are?

Then of course, with natural variation, we may have a cooling event. And cold kills more than warm. Who knows?

I wasnt aware that mankind caused the last mass extinction?

But Im sure the climate witch doctors sorry scientists know why that happened and have perfectly accurate and logical reasons for it?

Perhaps

Just another group of witch doctors, oops climate scientists who are looking for a way to get some funding.

I might just have to come up with some theory and publish a paper of outrageous claims and go on a speaking tour .
There will be plenty of gullible greenies who will support me.

It would have to be the easiest way to make money without actually doing anything........other than politics of course.

With Valkie's usual plethora of spelling errors, back of public toilet door writing style and pre-school grammar, authorities would give Valkie a grant to complete his elementary education or finance Valkie a nice room in a mental institution.

Extinctions in our history are common place, it happens on a regular basis be it millions of years.

Did the oceans acidify when we had 7000ppm of atmospheric CO2 cause I haven't seen an article that says they did, therefore at our current measly 400ppm you can be at rest that this phenomenon will not take place.

As for the plastic in the oceans, we have to do something about this pollution, its funny how not many governments talk about cleaning the plastic from the rivers and oceans.

Is it because the oligarchy cannot make a profit from collecting plastic....???

Its because humans have a finite life span which transfers the problem to a future generation. Just like government debt.

'In a recent report, Ocean Conservancy claims that China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam are spewing out as much as 60 percent of the plastic waste that enters the world’s seas.'

Decadent Western Nations spewed out ten times as much for more than five decades. Its the stuff that is already broken into micro particles choking marine life.
