Senior government public servants are being awarded average pay rises of more than 40 thousand dollars a year.

Top public servants are taking home pay packets of more than a million dollars with the bureaucrats wage rises far outstripping private sector wage rises since 2008.

It comes despite a decline in productivity in the public sector.

The analysis of Remuneration Tribunal decisions, reported by News Corp on Wednesday, shows cumulative salary rises over the past decade reaching almost 70 per cent.

Head of the prime minister's department Martin Parkinson earns $861,700 - up from the position's $504,900 salary in 20

Opposition leader Bill Shorten says the community 'is legitimately concerned' about the wage increase.

'I saw that table I thought goodness me! That is massive,' Mr Shorten said during his address to the National Press Club.

So I think there is legitimate community concern at the processes set independently but when I looked at some of those pay rises I think my reaction was the same as perhaps yours and millions of Australians that with respect to the professionalism those increases I don't know how they can be easily explained.'

With all the high income,they should get a Royalty title, a Duke, Lord, Prince,etc. ;surely they deserve it.

Good point, just what do they actually do ?

Most of the corrosive Lefty plants put there by Gillard have been rooted out now but probably a few still remain like Triggsy for example put there by Gillard expressly to cause as much trouble as possible for the new incoming Good Guys govt.

Wonder what the Lefty Triggsy reckons about SHY's being kicked out of people smuggling ?

Again, plenty of opinions and this time no facts from Juliar.

So...a bank or large corp has CEOs and executives on large pay, but those who run the entire country... peanuts?

I wont defend large salaries - because studies have shown that CEOs don't really perform better with large bonuses etc.they should be tied to a variable multiple of the worker's median of the company.

The Lefties' standard response to any disclosure of the uncomfortable TRUTH - deny and lie.

It is well documented that the Lefty Triggsy was planted there by Gillard towards the end to EXPRESSLY CAUSE AS MUCH DISRUPTION AS POSSIBLE for the new govt.

Initially Triggsy was out of control making extraordinary "claims" about the illegal invaders until she was read the riot act and told to stay out of sight.

Now Triggsy only comes out of seclusion every now and again and says something rather carefully.

Gillard put quite a few Lefty plants into key places like the CSIRO who she paid to keep saying the Greenies fabricated Global Warming FRAUD was real.

These are just some of the reasons that the Unions (Labor) Party is rotten to the core and simply unfit to govern.

All normal straight Australians should give thanks to the Lord Above that Shorty and the grotty Greenies did not get back in this time otherwise the economic carnage would be too shocking to imagine!!!

Large pay rises given to senior bureaucrats have seen the cost of public-service pension schemes blow out by up to $80 billion.

Newscorp reports the nation's superannuation liability has now reached just under $250 billion.

This comes at a time when the Turnbull government is looking to impose new taxes on everyday Australians.

The benefit schemes were closed to new members in 2005, but there are still more than 350, 000 people entitled to lifetime pensions.
