Quote:
Well done Senator Jacqui Lambie.  Good to see you will be back in the senate, for six years.   Smiley

It looks like Jacqie Lambie is in politics just for herself, and would be well described by this comment from the late Professor Marshall:

This is an extract from a book by S Encel:Equality and Authority a Study of Class, Status and Power in Australia.

Similar feelings are expressed more pungently in the writings of the late scientist and publicist, Professor A.J.Marshal.
Most Australian politicians, he wrote, aspire to parliamentary seats ‘to better their salary, to inflate their egos and to feather their nests.’ We have incompetent and ignorant cabinet ministers because ‘push and talk’ will do the trick. ‘A tram-guard may become a National Park trustee, a giggling bush doctor may be placed in complete charge of the finances of the nation. A few years ago a museum of scientific specialists found themselves under the jurisdiction of an ex-coalminer.’ But the only explanation he can give for the failure of the public who suffer under these incompetents to choose better people is the familiar tautology that they are ‘conditioned to second-rate political representation’.

Well, our constitution placed no barriers to election, such as intelligence, education, experience etc.
So we do end up with Lambies and so forth.

Labor and the Coalition have renegged on a change to the electoral act and two resolutions since then to use the new fairer method of allocating 6 year terms. Instead they have chosen once again to vote to give themselves more six year terms and screw over the other parties. They have tried to pass this off as the will of the people.

I encourage everyone to write to their local federal MP and complain about this.

I posted a quantitative analysis in another thread where I showed that the recount method in section 282 of the Electoral Act produced a fairer outcome. The recount method produced a split for the Coalition 15-13, ALP 12-12, the Greens 4-5 and Hinch 1-0 (the first number is the number of 6-year terms). The results for the first-elected method were Coalition 16-12, ALP 13-11, the Greens 3-6 and Hinch 0-1. So the Coalition and ALP have given themselves one additional long-term Senator at the expense of the Greens and Hinch.

Jacqui is a shining light for current One Nation Party Senators.

They can divorce Pauline and become independents ... just like Jacqui divorced Clive.

Why on earth would they want to join her? Her party, which she predicted would win many seats, garnered a paltry 69000 votes across the country and only one seat (her own), meanwhile One Nation garnered 593000 votes and four seats. I think that they know on which side their bread is buttered.

I reckon that is a certainty!

Pauline will try to be the standover boss and they will rebel!

That is fancy footwork but it is also unethical.
Altering someone else's post, which is what you just did, albeit minor and an attempt at humour, is not something I would do.

I have no idea why you're complaining here. Inserting an ellipsis is hardly the stuff of complaints, considering that I have seen many, many worse modifications done to quoted posts that you have never complained about. You're just sore because you don't like having pointed out that the One Nation nutters you support are from the shallow end of the intelligence pool. Get over it, they are not the sharpest tools in the political shed and the ones on three-year terms will not be re-elected. Six years of Hanson and Queensland will prefer someone else. Maybe someone from a more sensible conservative party, a third LNP Senator perhaps, or even KAP.

Exactly the same for the non antisemite greens, who can do away with their ludicrous party.  Good point!
