The Collingwood president and broadcaster has publicly apologised for controversial on-air comments the AFL deemed disparaging and inappropriate, after saying he would pay $50,000 to see Wilson stay under a pool of iced water, before going on to describe Wilson as "like a black widow" spider.

"If we're going to take offence at every silly, offhand remark or attempt at humour, then we're not focusing on the really important issues of the day," Ms Bishop told reporters in Sydney on Monday.

most men nowadays just look beaten down by life to me.

The fact is, a group of males, were making stupid derogatory remarks against one female, in public. She wasn't even present to say anything back at them, not present to even have a joke 'with' her, but in her absence, it is aimed 'at' her. So she has every  right to respond.
I was not impressed with Eddie, I have been a Collingwood supporter forever, but that does not mean I will support Eddie if he takes too many liberties because of his 'respectable position'.
If he, and the lads want to talk crap about a female, why so public, and not just among themselves in private?
