Not Settled: Astrophysicist Says ‘Mini Ice Age’ Staying

I hope Monk reads this - it's about time that he apologised.

https://www.trunews.com/article/not-settled-astrophysicist-says-mini-ice-age-sta...

In May, astrophysicist Piers Corbyn pointed to data that destroys the claim that Earth is undergoing a new warming period.
In April, global mean temperatures in both the northern and southern hemispheres dropped substantially. This prompted him to say the “mini ice age is here to stay” and that, in fact, it could last for up to 20 more years—bringing with it agricultural and epidemiological problems that will challenge the resources of governments around the world.

Despite what Al Gore and the radical environmentalist left would have you believe, the science is far from settled on Earth’s climate. There’s much we’re still don’t understand.

For years, heliophysicists—scientists who study “space weather” created by the sun—have been grappling with the lack of solar activity during the current solar cycle. In fact, six years ago, a number of them theorized the pattern of solar cycles may have been broken by unseen forces deep inside the sun.

In fact, data collected by NASA’s Space Weather Prediction Center show there was a cycle—it was just half as powerful as usual. And, current sunspot activity remains about half of what was predicted based on past data.

This reduction in solar activity is called a “cooling period,” and has been known to produce “mini ice ages” over the centuries—some short, and some long, such as the Little Ice Age that spanned from 1300 to 1850.

Earlier this year, a Yale University research team led by Dr. Wei Liu concluded that the decrease in solar activity was causing “instability” in the Atlantic Ocean’s currents, which in turn would lead to a major cooling of the Northern Hemisphere. He also shot down the climate alarmists claims, stating carbon dioxide has nothing to do with this change—solar activity is the driving factor.

Monk needs to watch this:

Atmospheric Compression Snow and Rain Events Happening Across the Planet (492)

Second atmospheric snow compression event in a week, first Alaska, now Turkey. Record snow across the S.E.. USA and Mexico, all time record rains in Mumbai India and an increase in the Grand Solar Minimum effects. Out of season everything across the planet, the jet streams are no longer stable.

Heavy snow brings travel chaos to UK

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/12/10/europe/uk-snow-weather-intl/index.html

By Hilary Clarke and Lauren Said Moorhouse, CNN

Updated 1848 GMT (0248 HKT) December 10, 2017

Pedestrians cross the Millennium Bridge in central London.

(CNN)Heavy snow fell in many parts of the UK on Sunday as Storm Caroline, the biggest storm so far this year, caused widespread disruption with road and air travel severely affected.
Central England and Wales were the worst hit regions witnessing up to 11 inches of snow in some places in just a few hours. Northern Ireland was also slammed.
Sleet and snow fell in central London as temperatures plummeted.

Passengers hoping to flee the winter weather from London's Heathrow Airport faced cancellations and delays to their journeys, with plenty of planes caught up in the chaos.
"Weather across the UK and Europe is resulting in some passengers experiencing disruption to their journeys. Passengers are advised to check their flight status with their airline before coming to the airport," a spokesperson for the airport told CNN.
With outgoing flights disrupted before departing the gates, incoming planes were forced to sit on the tarmac for hours, according to CNN's Nic Robertson who was returning to London Sunday.
Robertson said his flight had been waiting for a gate to free up for three hours. Pilots on his airplane told passengers two hours after landing in London that a further 20 to 30 planes had since arrived in the British capital and were joining the queue of waiting planes.

Flights were also suspended at Birmingham Airport while the runway was cleared, leaving passengers facing delays, while the M1 motorway was closed in Leicestershire because of vehicles being stranded.
Amber weather warnings were in place across Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and much of western England as icy conditions plunged roads into chaos, with temperatures of -11 degrees Celsius (12 degrees Fahrenheit) making it the coldest night of 2017, according to Press Association.

You have to remember that it's currently winter in Britain.

You have to remember it is not supposed to snow any more.

"The Independent, 2000:

Snow is starting to disappear from our lives. Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain's culture, as warmer winters – which scientists are attributing to global climate change – produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries … Global warming, the heating of the atmosphere by increased amounts of industrial gases, is now accepted as a reality by the international community … According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event". "Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said. "

Very pretty Barney. You do realise it was a climate scientist that predicted the end of snow in the UK?

And then of course the Arctic was perhaps supposed to be ice free by 2000.
" Arctic specialist Bernt Balchen says a general warming trend over the North Pole is melting the polar ice cap and may produce an ice-free Arctic Ocean by the year 2,000."

http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/csmonitor_historic/offers.html?url=%2Fcsmonitor_hist...

Of course it has always blown out. New predictions are for 2020, 2040 and 2050.
