3. How much I see the French flag flying everywhere.

I think we have a lot to learn from this place.

My dad arrived here in 1948 at age 12, he still has an accent.

The old lady next door to us in Melbourne had lived in Australia since 1950.
She still sounded like she lived in central Manchester.

Reminds me of Asia, the smells the heat the markets the foods..... Still my favourite Aussie " town". Queensland is over rated, too many Queenslanders.

I met by chance a late middle-aged Aussie couple across the street from my office in a high-end shopping mall who told me they were visiting all 50 states ... but not all on the same visit. They had just come up from the Everglades.

Yes, a regional town is very much made or broken on the presence or absence of abos.

I guess you could say the same about suburbs, but there are usually enough civilised people to balance them out. Not so in the bush.
