Garden update
May 2nd, 2016 at 5:00am

For some time we have been disappointed at our garden.

Recently put in a few drip irrigation lines.
They still need modifying, but it is there.

During todays showers spread some fertilisers around and some 'clay ground breaker.'

Anyhow, birds still like our yard Smiley

We've just spent 20K on paving our backyard and setting up new garden beds with proper retaining walls.

All our perimeter fences now need to be replaced.

We're putting up double brick walls to replace all existing 20 yr old colour bond fences. Got quotes coming in atm for all that.

Once that's all done, everything will be in place for setting up my garden...without the fear of flooding (we're on a sloping block).

I so can't wait to jump back into gardening again.

Right now, everything I have is surviving in wine kegs and large planters.

I have lots and lots of native birds in my garden.

Strangely, I haven't see a sparrow for years ... lots of local Magpies .... they are very friendly and I do not feed them.

Neighbour has a cat, some grey thing, not sure of the breed but "expensive". Think it is more scared of the Maggies than they are of it.  Grin

we have stray cats around here.
that limits the birds.

stray cats are hard to get rid of.

I made a cartoon style dropping box cat trap that worked pretty well, once I wrapped up the bait nice and tight. Sent 3 cats to the pound.

Do you have a downhill side you can divert roof water on to safely?

Haha my daughter has one of them designer cats, its scared of its own shadow, it would never dream of scratching or biting like most cats and would most likely be terrified if confronted by a mouse  Grin

Ironically I just had that conversation with a mate last week.

We put it down to those Indian Minors, 1000's here in Newy & not a sparrow to be seen.

We had heaps of sparrows around when I was growing up.

re cats - My wife is a cat lover and cannot abide sending someone elses cat to the pound.

Even if they do not care for their cat or any other living animal
