Continuing the railway theme, a photo I took in the early 1970s at Enfield locomotive depot.  By that stage, one of the roundhouses was being used as a temporary home for the collection of the NSW Rail Transport Museum (on the left of the photo, behind the metal fence).  The locomotives in the centre of the photo were awaiting scrapping.

Everything in that photo is steam powered and coal fired.

If my memory of the old Enfield depot is accurate, the tracks on the right led to the top of the coal stage, just visible in the distance, it looks a bit like a wooden trestle bridge.  Here the coal was dropped from the wagons into the tenders of the engines waiting underneath (the two tracks in the centre of the photograph led to the lower level of the coal stage).

Here's another railway photo.  In 1970, to celebrate the opening of the standard gauge link between Sydney and Perth, two 38 class steam locomotives hauled a special train, The Western Endeavour, from Sydney to Perth and return.  There was quite a crowd there to see the train off, including me with my camera and one of the photos I took was a close up of 3813's valve gear as it left on its outward journey.

Wol, have been a bit remiss in being here lately- you are spoiling me with beautiful images of trains...I don't know what it is I like about them tbh- I can only describe it as a feeling, I want to go to Sydney soon- and would love to take a train. As for the wooden trestle bridge, saw some wonderful pics in FB..will post a few.

I edited this photo to adjust the contrast and it seems to have changed the url as a result.  So, here it is again:

And here's another railway photo.  England this time, York Station in 1975.

Of course Wol as with all your pics- I do love that one- especially as you tell me it is in Hong Kong.  ^^^ Its just gorgeous, maybe because they are set in a certain time period..1975.
