Marriage is on the way out.

Well, indeed.

It's the only real reason I don't care about the issue. Ridiculous institution.

I think from not wanting to make that 100% commitment and retain one's own 'freedom'.. that kids require.  They are 100% or nothing.

It's too easy to walk away or act out things that wreck the relationship.  In retrospect my kid's mother did that - she wanted the kids but was not really interested in the 'family as a whole' relationship - so she engineered conflict by supporting her sister who was blatantly in the wrong, and certifiably insane as well, which the kid's mother knew in advance.

Just not focused on the relationship.. but wanted the kids.

But you can be 100% committed without marriage.

Don't you think that marriage is a dying institution?

Yes - true - but it's part of the underlying motivation and issue of rendering a relationship untenable.. usually for the innocent party.  Many want to be 'free' while having the perks of a marriage... so it doesn't really work, and was never really intended to.  Some make the mistake (as I did) of expecting it to work and be worked at.

Perhaps we are a generation of married people who want to be single.... and when the door was opened to that 'freedom' through easy divorce etc.. many took it without thinking of the long term consequences.  Marriage and family is a trade-off between one's own personal freedom and the rights of the family.... mature people say that their family - if well founded with reasonable adults - is worth the 'loss' of personal freedom.

Did you have a read Double? Or are you still denying that homosexuality is rife in the animal kingdom?

Fork the gays and their rights and their movement.... this world has far more important issues to deal with here and now... lest we all perish from utter stupidity....

Marriage is nothing but a piece of paper. You can be committed without it.

Who said there weren't more important issues?

SO give over already. Gays marrying will not hurt anyone. Protracting out the inevitable is utter madness.
