Great Story
Feb 11th, 2016 at 1:48pm

Parts of Sydney have been shut down to help Domenic Pace, aka "Iron Boy", fulfil his wish of rescuing someone from the clutches of an evil group of bad guys led by Ultron.

Domenic, who has cystic fibrosis, was granted his dream to be Iron Boy for a day by the Make-A-Wish charitable foundation.

The south-west Sydney schoolboy started his day off in a park where he was recruited to go on a secret mission in a joint project between the foundation and NSW Police

Iron Boy defeated Ultron's henchmen to rescue Make-A-Wish reporter Hope Joy from their evil clutches on Sydney's Clark Island shortly after noon.

But the mission continues this afternoon, with Iron Boy now hitting the steps of the Sydney Opera House.

Hundreds of members of the public have turned out to encourage him in his fight against the evil Ultron.

This morning NSW police chief Andrew Scipione himself called on the nine-year-old to help rescue Ms Joy and stop Ultron.

That is heartwarming, and I just love that photo! So cool.
And so many wonderful good people that make this happen. Thank goodness for that.
Go Iron Boy!

NOT, NOT, NOT, a Great Story.

I watched the item on the TV news.

Pathetic.

Teaching a sick child, that it is OK, to embrace lies and fantasy ?

For what ?

So as to 'stroke' that sick child's ego ?

For what ?

To give him the 'persona' of a faux hero ?

For what ?

WAKE UP WORLD.               Cheesy

You are living in a la la land.

Dictionary;
la-la land = =
1 Los Angeles or Hollywood, especially with regard to the film and television industry.
2 a dreamworld.

Absolutely. I thought what a waste of resources, for one kid amongst many, they made his dream. What about the rest of them? What about the other kids that want to be a superhero? Where are their dreams?

Then I thought lies and fantasy! How dare they! Sad indeed, Yadda, I await the rapture when the chaff are blown away.

Didn't you ever pretend when you were a kid?

This is just a sick little boy who has more grief and pain in his life than he deserves playing 'let's pretend' for an afternoon. He had some help.

His pain and suffering are disproportionate so why shouldn't his joy be?

I say many blessings on all involved. I'll bet it did each and every one of them some good too.

The cost must have been massive though. Perhaps if it wasn't so extravagant a few more could have lived their dream.

I don't know that the cost would have been all that "massive". A few costumes. A few volunteers.

I've a fair amount of faith in Make-a-Wish to provide as many services as possible for sick kids as possible.

Cystic Fibrosis is a particularly nasty disease. Any joy this boy gets is ok by me.

Helicopters, police boats, police pay.

Yes it is.

At any cost and what about the others?

Most of that was probably donated Setanta.

By the tax payer. Probably millions. Those are resources now not available for other MS suffers.

The TV networks did it for free, the reporters weren't paid. The maintenance of the police equipment and labour was donated.

Grin

Just trying to be rational. I don't have MS or know anyone that does. I did when I was about 18, don't know what happened to her, nice girl.
