no it's not. All you've done is limit the destination countries by one. You stop them coming here, they go there, you haven't stopped any drownings, just moved it along.
Not in Australian waters, That's all that matter to me.

that's because you're a dirt bag.

Andrews writes a letter to Turnbull then brags about it on Twitter - what a childish twerp he'd be

Is that his way of getting approval from Victorians', "Likes" on Twiitter ?

Yep. If it wasn't just a pointless political stunt, he'd have told no one about the letter. But that's Labor for you. They love playing political games with other peoples' lives.

So, you reckon Andrews is lying and Victoria is not willing to do what is outlined in the letter?

No, I'm sure he's serious. Just as I'm sure he's an absolute i-d-i-o-t who has no idea what he's trying to get himself or his state into.

So, how is it political stunt, if he is serious?  Ought he hide the proposal from Victorians, or let them know exactly what he has offered the PM?

Would be a stunt if Turnbull accepted the proposal and then Andrews rejected it.  Let's see if Turnbull will first.

All the signs of a sociopath, actually.

To be serious, for just a minute, he seems to have some very disturbing mental problems.

I just hope that he isn't married, with kids.

Like i said in the other forum topic thread... libs won't be happy with the higher moral stance exhibited by a lab.

I don't believe Andrews is taking the moral high ground. He isn't. His way will just encourage people smugglers to have another go at sending boatloads of country-shoppers this way. They don't care how many survive the trip. They've been paid already. No, the moral high ground belongs to this government in stopping the boats, which has stopped the drownings and stopped the trauma that was experienced by our RAN & Customs personnel who had to pull the dead bodies from the ocean.

Moral - based on quick google search - principles of right and wrong.

Many perspectives of right and wrong here.  Is Andrews right to want to immediately protect these refugees/seekers?  From those people's perspective - yes.  From lib perspective no - because it undermines their policy.

Is it right that wants to prevent "more deaths"? Yes it is.

If you want to truly stop them landing onto our shores, you would have to make the borders a military zone and shoot all illegal boats.  Eventually they would stop coming.  Would that be moral if shooting a few boats down will stop zillions in the future?  Sounds like a sound lib policy in the making.

Sort of like chinese tactic when hitting pedestrians.  Small fine if killed them, but if they survive, then long and expensive medical bills... which is why you hear reports of cars deliberately reversing back their poor victims.

Perhaps armchair is thinking long term - the "short-term" suffering and pain of returning those people and continuous detentions vs. future boats.

What's interesting to me though, is that as libs are after a new slave caste (low paid, if paid at all), why not let these refugees in then.  You know, since libs like Swag are "sick" of being "progressive tax" slaves.

Here's a great chance to kill off high paying low skilled workers and their unions by putting in people desperate to do anything.  And these people might even vote for libs to thank them for letting them into the country.  Pretty much win-win here.

Oh wait - I forgot - there are xenophobic elements in the lib party.  Must appease them...or they will abandon ship.  Plenty of famous ex-libs already - Slipper, Palmer....hmm fantastic role models?

A number of attackers involved in the Paris massacre had been masquerading as refugees. They managed to get into Paris because of Europe's lax border controls and even more lax politicians who decided to just open the flood gates without any checks or controls on who they let in. Since then, there's been carnage. Choosing who to let in or not let in to our country isn't xenophobia. It's the first responsibility of any government and just plain common sense.

Plenty of politicians (libs) wrecking the country faster than any terrorist.

I thought that was what security checks are for.

I wouldn't think most of the children/babies going to be terrorists...

I would think most people have a stance on this already on this thread.  What's more interesting is how the swinging voters will decide.

Andrews wasn't elected to carry on stupid, but stupid comes out in all Labor premiers sooner or later, he's only playing to a populist emotion he thinks he can win over, Turnbull would be right to ignore him and teach him a bit pragmatic common sense

If one has influence and uses it to try and do something good with it (whether it is right or misguided depending if you're a lib or not), then it is anyone's business.

To be honest, this thread doesn't have much purpose now other than to "boats" and "save the children" arguments.  Pretty much exhausted those points I'm sure.  Now probably evolving into "I'm right, you're wrong" and insults.

Armpit, do you get a kick out of seeing children suffer?

No, which is why I support the party that is taking kids out of detention. .

you can pretend all you like, you called for the kids to be sent into detention you scum. You even called Andrews a more on for saying they should remain.

One day, if something happens to you and your wife and your kids have to depend on strangers, how do you want your kids treated? Or do you agree the strangers should put their ideology ahead of your kids safety?

Actually, YOU did by supporting the ALP and Greens to keep Labor's appalling policy going. Kids in detention when the Coalition left office in 2007 - ZERO, NONE, NADA, ZIP. Kids in detention when Coalition regained office (i.e. on Labor's watch) - 2,000+. You can play childish games with words all you like, but at the end of the day the truth will remain: Labor locked up more than 2,000 kids (many who are orphans whose parents drowned at sea) while the Coalition is setting them free. By the way, no one invited those people or their kids here and there's nothing preventing them from going home. Those families are free to return home any time they wish. So enough of your faux, politically biased outrage. Time for you to grow a brain and use it.
