I was in Frankston with a cat on my lap when
a blue tongue lizard walked across the front yard.
The cat jumped off my lap and was very interested in it.
I shooed the cat away and he wasn't happy -
I think the cat wanted to play with it even
though it was a large lizard - about 13 inches long
by comparing to the 3 inch side of the brick.

Apparently those blue tongue lizards can bite:

I got a quick photo of it before it walked under the house - here:

This is so Beautiful and kind, that baby kitty was helpless and starving, so glad the sweet golden saved it. Golden retrievers have a heart full of love and warmth.

You need to provoke then to get bitten. The worst that can happen from such bites is an infection or (if you’re very unlucky) tetanus .
I welcome the few I have living under my house as they have a reputation for killing snakes and scorpions. My dogs have been trained to leave them well alone.

OK - next time I see one I will try to gently pick it up.
I wouldn't mind one as a pet.
The blue tongue lizard.

They don’t take to being kept as pets. You’re best bet is to be lucky like me and have them living under your house killing and eating snakes and scorpions. (although from my observations they eat snakes while they’re still very much alive.)
The references tell us they only eat insects e.g. crickets, worms, snails and slugs. They will eat a range of chopped fruits and vegetables including dandelion, milk thistle, watercress, banana, apple, pawpaw, pear, green beans, carrots, alfafa sprouts, parsley and tomato.
Obviously the pair under my house haven’t read the references given I’ve caught both of them with a still living whip snake half way down their gullets.
As to making pets out of them, expect to be bitten.

Well if I could one to live under the house that would be good.
The only problem I see is cats killing it.
