Even the owner here stays clear of the pussys belly -
it's too risky especially when the pussy weights 40 pounds
& has all it's claws.

Ruffy the cat who was dumped on me as a kitten loves his stomach being rubbed. I hate doing it because it's such male behaviour. If he gets the opportunity when I occasionally sit down - he jumps on my lap - dribbles all over me then spreads himself out on his back. He's got a very pretty tummy for a tabby - orange with black spots. Rubbing his tummy irritates me. I can't do it for long, but he only gets annoyed when I stop.

Muffin was my hot water bottle last night, wedged deep down inside the blankets and purring like a buzz-saw.

I never get bitten by her fleas, and THAT'S because she only gets the best of food.

Herby - you've got to put some flea powder on cats especially now in spring.

Interesting you should say that.

Only a month ago I tried to apply anti-flea and anti-worm ointment to the back of her neck ~ but bungled it four times: Cost: $8 x 4 = $32.

Thanks for reminding me. I'll put in another order.

When out for a walk, my doggy always keeps to the very left of the stairs.

Even most humans are too stupid to figure that out.

I'm not good at doing that either Herbert. I used to be, but once they get a whiff of that tube and start struggling - you get more on yourself than them.

I pay $60 for 3 tubes of advocate because Ruffy is so large and heavy - and strong. If you're only paying $8 a tube - that would be cheap if you only had one cat.

Well said! ~ "a whiff of ..."

That's where it all falls apart!

My large 'Sooty', and then 'Gizmo' - both males, give me no trouble at all, but Muffin's a female and flings herself about the moment she catches the scent.

I buy the treatments online at bulk to keep costs to a minimum, and then only apply these tubes when my flea-combing the cats show an excess number of fleas. Combing them for fleas has been very successful over the years for keeping the populations down.

... comb ... comb ... comb ... then check comb against background light ... and if any movement can be seen, then pull the fur-with-flea off the comb with a moist tissue and pop it into a waiting zip-bag with all the others. Works a treat.

I use spot flea treatment on my cats- just   small vial on the back of the neck and they are good to go for 3 months - it works a charm but is quite expensive- I have 3 cats now- flea powder never worked for me the fleas actually ate it seemed to thrive on it- spot flea treatments are the only ones that work properly I find- they interrupt and destroy the flea breeding cycle-

I've used the 'spot' treatment on my cats with very limited success. Unless you make your cats live in a shoe-box with the lid on, there'll always be fleas waiting to jump on them in the house and the garden. And then the 'spot' treatment itself is far from 100% efficient.

After many years of frustration over the flea problem I came up with a solution that uses Wet Wipes, a flea comb, a kitchen zip bag, and a bowl of cat biscuits.

Throughout the day the cats jump up on the desk here to eat some biscuits, and that's when I run the comb through them and trap the resulting loose fur in the tissues and seal the wads in the zip-bag. After just a very few of these combings there are no more fleas showing, and the cats appear very relaxed, with no scratching.
