Poor Demi
Jan 22nd, 2016 at 6:13pm

Wow, just had some really good thunder and lightning. Poor Demi, she tried hiding in all her little hidey holes, walking from one to the other with tail hanging down. Still not really happy now an hour after the storm has died down. Was a good storm, power went out 2-3 times, TV went out a bit more than that. Another nice 10 minutes of rain.

Think dog is settled now—stopped panting which I think was more fright or stress than heat so should be alright.

Took her for a lovely long walk on the beach—tail was up all the way.

Tiffany, my chihuahua, was never bothered by storms or fireworks.

Two of mine get nervous about thunder and some storms. The Shepard X and Jack Russell staffyX (who is normally fearless) want to both hide under my desk if I am there.

Doberman doesn't even seem to notice - he would go play ball in a cyclone I suspect.

Girl dog just gets annoyed and wants to have words with Thor...

Our cat is terrified of thunder.  We seem to be in a pocket where the storms are all around us but we miss most (if not all) of it.

He, however, can hear thunder way in the distance well before we hear even a slight rumble.  He crouches down with his belly close to the floor and slinks/runs from room to room.  Upstairs, downstairs, behind the furniture etc and all the while letting out a very loud low growl.

He doesn't like wind either.

We've had lots of dogs and cats over the years but he is the first to behave in such a manner.

My previous dog would panic if the wind or a storm came from the south, any other was all ok. If a wind was coming from the south she would hide under the bed and whine all night.

Current dog will happily go for a walk in a storm though when we had a real big one a few months back he dragged me home 30 minuted before it hit.

You are going to laugh but it isn’t really funny, not to Demi anyway: she is constipated.

So now she gets a tbsp cream of pumpkin or canned beans etcmorning and night and I take her walking a bit more than usual.

I think the bitch ate something she shouldn’t when in the wetlands I was deep in conversation on my mobile phone. I did consult the vet but nothing definite was diagnosed and she doesn’t seem distressed, maybe bit lethargic or that could be age.

Might get some tests done next visit to the vet next month (yearly checkup and vaccination.)

Watch out for your pets!

Demi Moore's face has been stretched to the point of unnaturalness that I can understand you why mistook her for a  freakish canine.

On a 4Km walk today Demi snapped off enough cables of wisdom that if you laid them end to end. . .they would be longer than Demi! Hopefully. . .a good (if smelly) sign.

She seems a lot better just lately, have stopped the pumpkin supplement. Will see. She is boarding at the local vets this weekend (I am at a niece’s place) and I mentioned she might be a bit constipated.

She suffers from grass allergy: walking on grass usually two strings of drool form. Doesn’t matter but in spring she gets very itchy, last year she was scratching herself that much I took her to the vet. Proteins from grass, weeds were getting through her skin causing the itching. Vet gave a few tiny cortisone tablets and recommended I give her one fish oil tablet so every morning I force one down her throat. No more itchies. I also add a couple tsp sunflower oil to her one meal of the day.

The fish oil helps with any joint problems as well as the itchies. I take four a day, did wonders for my arthritic shoulder.
