Now, would you say as a rape victim, i have a right to be offended by a game in which you are scored by raping as many women as possible?

You also have a right not to be. Or to be both.

Grin As would I! Would I say such a game should not exist?

Then what is the difference? Can you not concede that a game which scores you on killing as many Aboriginals as you can is offensive to people who are the victim of the policies of white Australia?

The difference is I would choose to take offence at that, I find it a bit... What about WW2 games that kill Germans and Japs? Age of Empires that lets you relive the genocide of millions?

Anyway, choose to take offence? Aren;t you just innately offended by the concept?

I'm not inclined to choose what offends me. It's knee-jerk.

I hope that i respond to the offence in a considered manner, but offense itself is just a reaction to a stimuli.

I have that right, certainly. But what do you think my visceral response would be?

So it's about what you choose to take offence at?

Can you concede that Aboriginal people choose to take offence at this game? That i choose to take offence at this game?

I don;t think you;ve given a particularly noteworthy reason as to why one game is offensive and another is not, aside from what offends you personally .  It is not an argument against what is offensive per se.

As for WW2 games, i find them to be in poor taste but i refer to a previous point of mine. Where is the balance of power? Uf the game is exterminating Jews, homosexuals, Catholics, Gypsies and the physically and mentally disadvantaged, then i take strong exception. Fighting the dominating force leaves me unoffended.

It's about where the power is.

Yes, it's what I choose, as do other people. I don't try to push my choice onto others though, I understand there are different views.

I concede some Aboriginals will take offence.

No game I have played have I found offensive. I kill dragons, nords, bretons, elves, wolves, bear, ogres, japs, germans, celts, assyrians, persians, and now apparently I can kill aboriginals.

I disagree that offence taken is a choice.

So you think when men in Pakistan burn their female family members for honour, that their felt offence is given to them?

Hello left field.

I believe these men are truly misguided. I don;t believe ther offence is given to them (where did you get that from), i believe they are acting accordance with some seriously dodgy belief systems.

Now if somebody was to make a video game about honour killings, i would be offended. Wouldn't you?

In this instance - of course its a choice

The social apologists are probably telling the Aborigines they should be offended because there might be some money in it

Offence is taken. It's a personal choice.
99% of the time I choose not to as there is no point. 1% of the time I am Ian or Honky.

There are over 7 billion people on Earth
