How fragile are Malcolm’s poll results?

While the nation rejoices that the thug is no longer PM and gives Malcom and the Libs their support in political polls, just how fragile is that support? Could be very fragile because voters are marking the performance of the Turncoat/Morriscum govt right down:

The findings are contained in the latest quarterly True Issues survey conducted by JWS Research and canvassing the views of 1100 voters. They are presented with a list of 11 issues, asked to rate them in order of importance, and the government's performance on each.

The survey was conducted from November 5 to November 10 when political debate about a GST increase was prominent. It found that since the last survey in June the government's performance rating across every issue fell, the first time this has happened.

The issues tested were hospitals and healthcare, the economy, education, immigration and border security, community and social issues, infrastructure, quality of government, environment, defence and security, regional and rural Australia, and business and mining.

Hospitals (81 per cent), the economy and finances (64 per cent) and education (60 per cent) remained the top three issues of importance but had the greatest gap between importance and government performance. The performance rating on hospitals fell from 18 to 15 per cent, the economy from 22 to 17 per cent and education from 25 to 22 per cent.

Funny thing is, Malcolm is keeping on with the thug’s policies because that is the only way the Right will keep him in the top job.

I used to buy the weekend AFR because it had very good long articles about the economy and politics etc but it deteriorated markedly when the ex-Murdoch guy was appointed the boss. I haven’t bought an AFR for ages.

Yeah.

But Malcolm hasn’t really done anything yet. Looks like the GST debate didn’t do him any favors and the deficit keeps blowing out.

I think even the NBN/MTM will come back to bite Turncoat on his bum. I did a Speedtest.net yesterday and my download speed had dropped to 6.7mbps. It used to be nearly 20! For the first time in 2 years I am getting dropout in my ADSL2 connection. Annoying!

Netflix is obviously overloading the copper and probably the HFC stuff as well. If they sign up another half million or so houses the internet here will slow to a crawl.

I was going to repeat the test at 4am this morning but I had been at this really great party. . .and at 7.00am the speed was still the same. Less than 1/3 of the original speed! Not good enough, Malcolm, and your ridiculous excuse of a CBA has been blown out the water!

That's the problem ... the copper part of the network is near the end of its useful life due to technical limitations of the technology. Even if we ignore the age of some parts of the network and the limitations of the thin copper used in many places, it is simply not possible to get a digital signal through a copper wire faster than a certain speed. That maximum speed decreases with the length of the cable.

Fibre does not have the same limitations.

Vectoring won’t work here either. Forget GFast except for within MDUs and then only some MDUs.

But it isn’t only the copper, the Optus HFC will have to be pretty much completely replaced, it is at the end of its life. Replacing it with fibre would be the sensible thing but, noooo, the more ons will replace it with 48mm thick coax! {headdesk}

Really illustrates just how fragile his support is.
