So, what do you think will be the cost of the mish mash of obsolete and incompatible technologies that make up the MTM mish mash, Longy?

All very well telling lies about me, how about committing yourself to some figures, Longy? Or are you afraid my estimates will prove correct and the MTM prove a turkey?

I at least commit and say the MTM will cost well over $100Bn and will be a turkey. I say that because:

1. The Telstra copper is too rotten and too thin for high speed broadband. Finding out in detail the state of the copper and checking the accuracy of the address database will cost $20Bn—the estimate of Sortius the Geek.

2. To increase the cost of the MTM NBN Co is going to roll out new copper where the Telstra copper in inadequate. Copper is more expensive to roll out and to power and maintain.

3. The HFC part will also present problems that will increase the cost.

4. Benefits. Practically zero.

4.1. FTTN over Telstra copper is not going to achieve high speed—the Telstra copper is too thin as I have stated all along. To ensure the MTM provides no real benefits NBN Co is not running nearly enough fibre into the Nodes.

4.2. HFC is not being upgraded to DOCSIS3.1. means it will remain a congested network not capable of fast broadband.

That is my contention as stated many times here.

Over to Longy, give a detailed cost and benefits outline. Failure to do so means you really agree with my analysis.

Yeah. Howard should have split Telstra into wholesale and retail parts and privatised each as a separate company.

Oh dear, not another RWNJ propagating myth as fact. The Panel of Experts set up to consider the tender for the original FTTN NBN drew up the plan of the NBN. Conroy sold Rudd on the plan. Pity the Libs, unlike in Menzies’ days had to destroy a Labor initiative. We have seen the cost of the idiotic MTM double, any odds the costs won’t double again?
