All the current blowouts are due to the terribad renegotiated deal with Telstra and the terrible MTM technology.

If FTTP was continued, costs would already be lower (they were heading downward during rollout anyway) and NBN rollout would have already been smashing through the suburbs.

My rollout was planned for early 2015, we had the trucks rolling out the backbone back in 2013 in my suburb, now we don't even get FTTN to 2020 under this rollout.

It's a disaster and it's all Turnbulls fault.

Not only has the change to the idiotic MTM blown out costs it has delayed the rollout for years!

I heard Morrow on the radio, crapping on how expensive FTTH rollout would have been. Way more than in any other country and the cost pushed up by including $700 OPEX to the CAPEX and not counting in the cost and time savings Project Fox was proved to make.

We are being lied to wholesale.

Actually we are at 156 billion already including long term costs of the "MTM" renting the ducts, copper over a 30 year lease is 100 billion.

MTM is a disaster beyond belief.

Here is what Macfarlane had to say:

The NBN was bought to you by your Labor Federal Government and you are right - it is a national disgrace. The NBN is the "legacy" of the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd Labor Government and was rolled out in Toowoomba by them.

It was designed on the back of a drink coaster by Kevin Rudd and Stephen Conroy and has performed poorly in virtually all areas where it has been installed. Its cost was grossly underestimated by Labor.

Our job has been to clean up the mess (one of many). In the two short years we have been in government, we have worked to get the NBN back to a sustainable reliable network model and the work continues.

Residents are mad they are paying huge fees for NBN that is slower than dial-up (file photo, pchope).

EARLIER: HUGH Wilson pays a bundle for NBN in Toowoomba and is mad that it's as slow as a snail.

He's penned an open letter to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Groom MP Ian Macfarlane in the hope something will be done about it.

Here's what Mr WIlson has to say:

I am on Internode NBN, paying about $90 a month for a "warp speed" internet connection in Toowoomba, brought to me my the previous Communications Minister, who is now our PM.

I can tell you the NBN service here in Toowoomba is s*** pure s*** (not good).

This is a national disgrace, and Turnbull, as well as whoever runs the NBN and Internode, need to explain themselves to us all... that includes you too Jason Clare, Conroy was no mastermind, whatever he thinks about himself.
