When they buy them back, they destroy them.

When a gun is destroyed, it doesn't exist any more.

Thus, less firearms.

you're assuming that the shooters will just give up their sport ... that's a mistake. They'll simply replace the lever action with another gun

No, I'm not assuming that at all.

They might buy another ten guns, for all I know.

However, the gun that was destroyed reduces the total number of guns in existence by one.

Less guns = good.

You really scoffed down a big bowl of stupid this morning didn't you?  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

But never let facts get in the way of what you believe now will you.

If a gun is bought back and then destroyed, that reduces the total number of guns by one.  Fact.

What part of that are you struggling to understand?

So long as no more guns a purchased then and only then is that true.

But 1 - 1 + 20 is not -1

Grade 3 math something you should have stayed awake for.

This is why the buyback is total horsesh1t and has nothing at all to do with the current lack of gun massacres.

There are more guns now that there were prior to the buy back and all current massacres are gun free massacres in this country.

So less guns = delusion of simple minds

We need less mental deficients in society not less guns, as it is crazys who kill people, with or without guns.

No, there are not more guns now than ever.
We have the same number of firearms now as we did in 1996.
But we have 4 million more people, so a much lower person to gun ratio.

p,s its stupid banning lever action shotguns, unless your gonna ban lever action rifles too.

Are you absolutely sure we have exactly the same amount as 1996, not a single weaon more?

That is one amazing coincidence.

PSS.....Banning any firearms from good law abiding people is pure stupidity without first addressing more effective ways of dealing with the nations degrading mental health, heightening anti-social behavior...especially with youth, increasingly more violent crime, drug addiction, & effective criminal punishment replacing a weak as piss turnstile revolving door justice system.

Incorrect.

A gun still exists, whether it's in a gun store or in someone's private house.

The act of exchanging money doesn't increase or decrease the amount of guns in existence.

rubbish ... the more demand for one type of gun, the more of that type gets imported. We'll import less lever action and import more double barrel ... the net result, the same number of guns

Using your logic we could say it was stupid to ban pump action shotguns when pump action rifles like this are still legal. Wink

A five round pump action shotgun was banned in 1996, the only change to pump action rifles was to restrict them to 10 round magazine.
It takes longer to reload a pump action shotgun than to change a magazine on a Rem 7615.

It appears the politician who introduced this bill tried to join a hunting club to shoot ferals.

Quote:
Mr Shoebridge applied for membership of the Inner West Hunters Club at Drummoyne last week to fully understand the rigour and process involved in obtaining a hunting licence in NSW, reports Sean Nicholls.

But instead of receiving a phone call from the club president,David leyonhjelm, about his application, the upper house MP took a call from a reporter at the Australian.

Mr Shoebridge said Mr Leyonhjelm later told him he had leaked his details to the media because he was up to mischief and therefore it was a matter of public interest.

Mr Shoebridge, who is a barrister, was also told his application had been rejected because he was not a fit and proper person

He said the hunting club's five person committee had unanimously rejected Mr Shoebridge's application on Friday night.
There are some people we don't want in the club,Mostly the nutters. And I suppose that's another way of describing a Green politician.

Mr Shoebridge tried to get a firearm licence his application was rejected when the club said he was not a fit and proper person.

Mr Shoebridge also campaigns to outlaw drug sniffer dogs.
