If that's the case, then there ARE a few knowledgeable and experienced members
here, who will be, and are, quite happy to help you if asked. And if they can.
This may not always be the case, though...
SOOOO...
I would once again like to recommend ↓ THESE FORUMS (below) ↓ if you get serious-
ly stuck, or even if you just want to learn a bit more about your OS and how it works
(and why it doesn't). I can highly recommend them - I stumbled upon them years
ago while searching for the answer to a problem with Vista, ended up joining, and
have 'upgraded' my membership to all John's subsequent Windows forums since.
**See links below**
They are all owned by the same bloke (John, a Pommy) and all have 'resident
techies' online 24/7/365. All John's forums are STRICTLY moderated, but each
forum is full of enthusiasts and experts who are only too happy to help and
advise anyone, with just about any Windows-related problem.
I doubt you'd get as many experts in one place on any other forums. Many of us
are long-time MS beta-testers, techies, programmers and/or have years/decades
of experience. We even have a few members who love nothing more than analys-
ing and fixing BSODs. Others will help you re-write your registry, if needed. And
just about anything else you could think of.
We are serious experts and enthusiasts/hobbyists, not dickheads who'll troll you
to get Linux or Apple (John or Brink tend to 'exit' people like that pretty quickly)
or put you down if they happen to disagree with you. Quite a few of us disagree
on many things, but we discuss, we don't abuse.
We are not in any way associated with Microsoft, but we do have their unofficial
'nod of approval', and several of our members are actually MS technicians. Several
other members are programmers in their own right (Ivo, who wrote the well-known
and popular 'Classic Shell' start-menu replacement program which is virtually de
riguer on Windows 8 machines, for example).
You will NOT get trolled, you will NOT be abused or ridiculed, and there is no such
thing as a stupid question. The only stupid questions are those which don't get
asked. And we don't harvest private info, although ISPs are logged (so no, you
can't go there and be a dick, and get away with it).
There are PAGES of tutorials, trouble-shooting, hints on customisation and mods, a
Photoshop (sigs and avatars) board, tips, tweaks and hacks, a chat-room for 'expert'
members etc, and much more.
IF you go to these forums, you DO NOT need to join to search for the solution to
your problem, as the forums are open for anyone to view, and the tutorial sections
are all indexed.. But you WILL need to sign in if you have a problem/question which
doesn't seem to be covered, and so need to ask. But most issues do have a solution
somewhere on the forums.
I am a long-time MS beta-tester, and am also a long-time, respected and highly-
regarded member of all these forums (no, NOT as 'Kat' - and no, I won't tell you
my #forums ID, some of you MAY guess it tho, if you go there). But I WILL be one
of those available 24/7 to help with any issues you may have, be they with Vista,
Win 7, Win 8/8.1 or Win 10.
Even if you are NOT having issues, the forums are worth a read anyway, for the
hints, tips and advice, if nothing else. But if you want to get abusive, play the
fool, or try to identify and troll me, then don't bother, you
won't last long.
There IS one caveat - we WILL NOT help those who are using a pirated OS (and
yes, we CAN tell), and nor will we supply links to pirated/suspect software. It is
forum policy, and breaching WILL earn a ban. And John bans for life... no excuses.
Here are the links to all the forums, followed by the number of members on call to
help in each forum. Below that is a screenie of the Tenforums homepage.
