Cakes you've made Recently..
Jul 15th, 2015 at 8:56pm

Chocolate Cake with real chocolate in the cake and the icing...

so good, I made 2 in as many weeks...

and last week I made an Orange cake... using fresh squeezed oranges both in the mix and in the icing...

oh.. and that Coffee cake I made for mums birthday.. yum yum...

I've also been doing the old style icing... just icing powder and water... that cream type icing gives me the willies..  Angry

even my grand daughter wont eat it...

with the orange icing for the orange cake.. I squeezed one orange into a bowel.. some orange rind, and just add the icing powder until nice and thick.. oh boy...
the orange in that icing just pops in your mouth.. !!

im now thinking of maybe doing a lemon Cake using the same Recipe as the Orange - Cept Lemon...  Smiley

Once made the Julie Goodwin orange syrup cake - it was great - not sure this is the same recipe. with Almond Praline.

More recently have done some coconut with strawberry swirl muffins and just some coconut cinnamon cup cakes, different weeks.

I love orange cake and make the icing with orange juice (instead of water) and icing sugar too.  Maybe a small dob of butter.

I am the only person in the house who eats cake so I rarely make them nowadays unless I have guests   Sad

The Julie Goodwin one looks good yummm.

I would like to try the burnt butter cake they had on Masterchef last night and were all raving about.

the cake looks smashing I dont have a lot of success with choc cake usually a bit on the dry side.. carrot cake is one of the biggies for me...and its pretty easy I like it with walnuts it need a bit of crunch.

the first one we did was a bit dry but out second one was a cracker..

it was an unusual cake in that you separate the egg whites and beat them until stiff like you do when making a Pav... this becomes the ingredient to make the cake rise a bit.. but not too much.. keeping the cake dense.. Smiley

I am always wary of using egg whites as they seem to create a crust like a macaroon on the outside and I dont like that its always sweet.....but your cake looked really good...

I have a nice macadamia choc brownie that you have to cook just so.. its a bugger...a lot to do with the oven.. if you get it right it sort of is just set on the edges and really soft and yummy in the middle...but in the blink of an eye it can be overcooked...ho hum....I never waste it though... Yes, Rhino.

Although you were banned for stalking me and threatening to meet me at my office and smash my face in, I agree with you - this thread is gay.

(Not that there's anything wrong with that).

Anyone who thinks of males having sex when they hear about a man cooking a cake is an obvious fag himself.

well done, Mechanic. My husband also likes to bake and we are starting to cook together. Ill upload a pic of the profiteroles he is going to teach me when we have a day off.
