How about ending the brutal trade and employ Australians and process the meat here, then exporting it.

Last time the idiotic greens tried to stop live exports it resulted in those countries buying their live beef from Canada and Brazil.

Of course Indonesia also bought a million hectares of aussie land for live exports to continue to Indonesia.

If we stop live exports our former customers will just buy from Brazil and Canada like they did last time.

The greens are clueless, must be giving their crack pipes another workout.

Stop what live exports ... Indonesia has just pulled the rug.

Did you read that link from theland which mentioned Indonesia buying 1 million hectares of farmland?

last time you dim wits tried to stop live exports Indonesia bought a million hectares of aussie land for Indonesian beef with Indonesian workers on 457 visas.

They don't need aussie beef they have Indoensian owned beef in Australia, you cannot stop them from exporting what they own if they claim they are for breeding purposes.

The greens have no idea they are totally clueless.

Who allowed them to buy the Land?

well , you see, theres this thing called trade.
Now if folks in the cities would work for $10 an hour and not want penalty rates and would work hard and be productive and get behind the smart people (the cream) and stop being pathologically jealous of the cream , then we could produce stuff in our cities and export it and all would be well with the world.
But since city folk wont do that and want to spend their times being indulged by canberra and thinking they deserve (or are entitled to all this stuff), well we have to give the asians something they want (they certainly dont want our bludger unionised workforce). so guess what.
we give them our land.
been going on for decades.

I look forward to our asian overlords whipping the asses of those lazy city folk into shape.
i especially look forward to chain gangs of inner city green leaners being sent to me by our asian overlords to work the fields in the hot sun with not a soy latte in sight  Wink

I agree with you Aqua....Let the city folk work for $10.00 an hour but lets stop subsidising the country folk and make them pay full price for the services that they take for granted....Make the farmers pay for their lifestyle choice and stop expecting hand outs from the majority of Australians who live in our cities....OK!!!

there is not a country on earth (apart from australia) that does not pay MASSIVE subsidies to their farmers .

the EU spent €57 billion on agricultural development, of which €39 billion was spent on direct subsidies.[4] Agricultural and fisheries subsidies form over 40% of the EU budget.

The United States currently pays around $20 billion per year to farmers in direct subsidies as "farm income stabilization"

Corn is the top crop for subsidy payments. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandates that billions of gallons of ethanol be blended into vehicle fuel each year, guaranteeing demand, but US corn ethanol subsidies are between $5.5 billion and $7.3 billion per year. Producers also benefitted from a federal subsidy of 51 cents per gallon, additional state subsidies, and federal crop subsidies that can bring the total to 85 cents per gallon or more

In 2009, Japan paid USD$46.5 billion in subsidies to its farmers

meanwhile back in OZ

Australia still at the bottom when it comes to farm subsidies.
Mick Keogh - Friday, September 23, 2013
The OECD has released it's annual survey of national agriculture subsidy levels by OECD members. While internationally, farm subsidy levels have been lower in 2012 due to the relatively high commodity prices, Australia and New Zealand farmers receive the lowest levels of subsidies of any farmers, and Australia is right at the bottom when it comes to total expenditure on agriculture as a proportion of national GDP.

You call city people lazy and expect them to work for less than the minimum wage yet you expect these very same people to subsidise farmers....I find your contempt for people in the city typical of those who live in the country and think they are entitled despite being subsidised by the majority of hard working Australian's....If people like you had their way no one would be able to afford a house in the city or be able to afford the produce these free loaders dump on us whilst sending their prime produce overseas....Talk about double standards and hypocrisy....Let the farmers fend for themselves and us city folk will import our food....See how you go then when you no longer have us city folk to subsidise your lifestyle choice!!!

now, now, youre being silly.

As you can read above, according to the OECD australian farmers recieve the LOWEST levels of farm subsidy in the world.
Yet thanks to innovation and a great work ethic they still run a very successful export industry.

City folk work at no such disadvantage in australia.
whereas the city folk of the USA can start apple, microsoft, google. the city folk of stockholm can start ikea and nokia and vodaphone, the city folk of yokahama can start honda and yamaha. the city folk of germany can start bmw and seimens. the city folk of chicago can start catepillar....
the city folk of australia can start.....

the hills hoist company Cheesy
victa mowers Cheesy
vegemite  Cheesy (sold to kraft).

the contribution of the leaners in the city is truly laughable Phil.
all they do is import money(borrow) from hard working asians to pay themselves 10 levels above their level of effort. Cheesy

I dont think Aquascoot has realised yet that when we are all on a few dollars a day, we wont have any cash to buy whatever his farm produces. What does he produce by the way, must be something other than horses?

The poor wont want any horses I suspect

So he will be as poor as the rest of us. Will have to sell out to China.

Most of my neighbours are in dairy.
Being horribly ripped off by the urban consumer with the $2 milk ( for 2 litres).
Norco, the biggest co op has done a deal with china for powdered milk and fresh exports.
Milk sells for $9 a litre in china fresh .

happy days  Wink

NSW dairy co-operative Norco will more than double sales of fresh milk to China, a sign of how Australia’s reputation for high-quality and safe food is helping it sell produce at premium prices overseas.

Despite its fresh milk retailing for a hefty $9 a litre in Shanghai, Norco has found no shortage of demand. It will increase weekly deliveries from 30,000 to 80,000 bottles under a new distribution agreement with a Chinese importer.

“This is really a great opportunity for the Australian dairy industry," said Norco chief executive Brett Kelly .

Mr Kelly will be in China this week, as part of a 38-member Australian delegation accompanying Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce .

Mr Joyce will be in the country to promote farm exports, which have doubled to $7.3 billion over the past five years, and are set to grow further as Chinese companies look to ink supply deals ahead of a likely trade agreement.

China’s two largest state-owned food companies, COFCO and Bright Foods, have both signed wine distribution agreements with Australian producers in recent weeks. Beijing allowed Australian chilled beef back into the country on a trial basis in July, after stopping the trade 10 months earlier amid concerns about the surge in imports.

The long-awaited trade deal between China and Australia, expected to be signed during President Xi Jinping ’s visit to Canberra in November, will be skewed towards agriculture.
