Residents in Brisbane's western suburbs have pleaded for the Queensland government to help cull the numbers of wild deer.

Conservationist Shealagh Walker has had to put knitted protectors around trees to stop the deer eating them.

They strip off the bark with their antlers, and that is effectively ringbarking it,so the tree dies slowly.
The damage they do is making us mad.

The choice is pay more taxes/rates so the government can afford to cull them, the costs are always bloated when governments are spending taxpayers money or let hunters take care of the problem at their expense.

If the government culls them the meat will be left to rot,if a Deer hunter goes after them they will end up in someones freezer.

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Probably the same people who introduced feral goats bwian.

Australia is the worlds largest exporter of goat meat, perhaps we should cull the deer and export Venison.

Doubtful, Baron 'cause Deer are very much perceived to be the purvey of the "upper-classes" whereas Goats are very much seen as the purvey of the "lower-classes".  Deer were introduced initially to hunt, Baron whereas Goats were introduced to farm.  Both became Feral though.  Hunters hunted the Deer, Farmers farmed the Goats.   I was driving to Canberra a couple of years ago and very surprised to nearly hit a Feral Deer in the early evening.   I've never ever seen a Feral Goat.   Your sole solution to the problem is guns and more guns, as in everything you talk about, Baron (except Muslims and who knows, perhaps your solution to your Islamophobia is more guns as well?).   Guns won't solve the problem of the Deer any more than they have solved the problem of the Goats.    Roll Eyes
