Australia in 20 years
Jun 30th, 2015 at 1:54am

Hey guys,

So I have a project for school that I have to do. Basically the objective is to provide an overall snapshot of Australia 20 years from now.

It says you first have to give your opinion of where the country will be then (better, worse etc.) and explain your reasons. The word limit is a minimum of 2000 words.

I am pretty divided to be honest. On one hand I think we could be a lot worse off, but then again, people have been saying those kind of things about Aus for years and nothing bad has really happened.

So what do you guys think? What will Australia be like a couple of decades from now?

Just wondering why Americans are commenting on here. I don't see why they would be interested in a forum about Australian politics.

Marla is here to show us what Australia is going to be like in 20 years time if it follows the US's lead ... ie. a bankrupt self loathing nation of legally wedded arse reaming illegal immigrant mexican climate change hysterics all owned by the Chinese and wholly dependent on food stamps.
On the positive side they will have introduced another national holiday called shoot your neighbor day.

Lol, but aren't we being bought out by China too? And a lot of people here are on benefits. Maybe not like in the US, but there's still millions that are.

Well said, Marlon just likes to disagree with everything so that people will think he's actually got an opinion, but you're correct WTF has his presence got to do with your questions?

As Greece has shown us people are prepared to bankrupt their own country or sell it to the Chinese in order to keep the welfare state ticking over.

As far as what Australia is going to be like, generally it follows world trends and is about 10 to 15 years behind Europe and the US.

That show syou're thinking Pete, I sometimes wonder too. Of course I'm interested in American politics but the last thing I'd want to do is join an American political forum.

It's also good that you're doing some research, there's nothing quite like personal opinion to add to your assignment, you might even quote this forum if you think it will add to your marks.

Personally, I think Australia and the rest of the advanced western nations are going through a period of change, starting from the 2007/8 global financial crisis and continuing for a few decades. The west will no longer be the economic powerhouse that it once was. Let's hope that at the other end of the tunnel it will be a much fairer playing field where the top 10% don't have more money than the bottom 90% put together.

For your reasoning you should look at the following thread because it's quite complicated and the shift is not due to one thing but many, such as population, climate change, unfettered capitalism and more.

Good luck and feel free to ask any questions. We are here to help.
