Royal Ascot
Jun 20th, 2015 at 11:50pm

Been watching the Racing (on now) at Royal Ascot.

Fascinating to compare it to our big carnivals here in Oz.

Very different. Looks almost like a provincial race meet here.  They could learn a few things from us.
Like the media coverage.. their tech doesn't really compare to ouyrs, but the track itself is incredible.

The people compering seem keen, but also rather  gauche.  SmileyEspecially those in the field, so to speak. ! Gawd. Smiley  Oh but GOK is there. Roll Eyes
The owners are like all owners,  the horses are beautiful, the trainers are like all trainers,  BUT  they all wear Top Hats,  Smiley Smiley and ghastly clothes. Grin

The Queens horse ran second the other night.

A couple of aussies will race, don't have the details, but I think tonight we have them.

Brazen Beau and Wandjina.. and one of my personal heroes Red Cadeaux is also racing tonight.
Quite enjoyable.

Free to air on 73.

Just saw an interview with Gai Waterhouse. Good stuff.. and they just showed Craig Williams walking the course with plastic bags covering his boots. It looks pretty wet.!

Bugger.  My pick Mt Logan got held up, crammed in the straight, but ran on for fourth. Would have run a place with a bit of space.

Well,  I do hope they now retire Red Cadeaux. He's nearly made $5mill.  Give him a rest, and let him live out his life in peaceful green surroundings somewhere.

Gawd, is that place full of uglies or what.?

OK  They are about to race.

AND
I take back what I said about looking provincial. They've finally shown the stands.  Impressive.

EEK

A horse has busted out of the mounting yard, gone off track and is running loose with the reins loose and I hope it will be OK. Gawd.!!!!

Haven't seen this since I don't know when!. The race is delayed.
It's still loose. Angry

They have finally caught him, after lapping the track and taking a scenic tour. Seems OK.

that was also a good race and I find the footage is quite effective, altho diff . Interesting that the horses tend to sspread out more and yet group up right across the track.  I picked 2nd, and only found out after that Robert the Diable was ridden by Damien Oliver.  Smiley

I'm enjoying The Emma Peel ShowSmiley

You're not married to aquascoot, are you? If not, then perhaps you two should get together and horse around a little. It might not be long before we hear the pitter-patter of little hooves coming from the stable where you two are shacked up.

I'm laying bets that would happen.

Yes enjoyable.

You know Ascot isn't pronounced as in the Australian Ascot, it phonetically sounds more like Askit.

Wrong.

'Asskt'.

There's no vowel sound between the 'c' and 't'.

No need to infer the 'c' and 't' word.
