Windows 10
Jun 2nd, 2015 at 4:28pm

Appears that Microsoft are launching Windows 10 at the end of next month. I already have them prompting me to "reserve my FREE upgrade" both on my Laptop (Win 7) and Desktop (Win 8.1).

Anyone got any ideas or views about this "new" Windows? It seems that most people dislike Win 8.1, but I haven't had any problems with it. I found it more of a learning curve to go from XP to Win 7 than from Win 7 to 8.1. Cheesy

Normally I ignore upgrades of Windows and go with what my "next computer" comes with rather than upgrade. I did, however, go from Win 2000 to Win XP without any problems and I was playing games back then.

I have 8.1 so will upgrade to 10 because it's free.

I think we have a year to take up this free upgrade so will wait a few months for Microsoft to release their patches fixing problems before upgrading.

Microsoft never get it right first go they always have to patch it which is why I never rush in and wait.

I started with 3.1 last upgrade was XP to 8.1.

I initially had DOS, then 3.1 (had forgotten that). Then whatever came with a new computer. WinME, Win 2000, Xp, Win7, Win 8.1.  I didn't bother with W98 or that other thing ...... though I know people who ALWAYS  upgrade and I have an American friend who still has EVERY computer in his basement, all connected .....  but he doesn't use a mobile phone. LOL  Oh and guess what?  He started with an Apple Mac.  Grin  He is Herbert personified.  Wink

I think I'll wait 6 months or so before upgrading ... let them sort out the bugs first. My computer technician was just today telling me he's been running 10 for a few weeks now as a preview, apparently it's not bad

It is going to kick off as a free upgrade but it will not stay free.

I am not sure what I will do thinking about taking the upgrade but not even sure if my version will be compatible.

The Laptop (W8) will get the upgrade for sure

I have 8.1 and have no problems with it.

I have reserved my free upgrade to Win10, but might wait 3/6 months before installing.

But, then again, might not...... Wink

Microsoft is renown for introducing new versions of Windows way before they have sorted out the glitches.  I might just remain with Win 7 on my laptop and Win 8.1 on my desktop for another few years when Microsoft will, undoubtedly, introduce another new "improved" version.  I bet they are already working on a name for it.  Grin

I'm under the impression that MS have delayed the release of Win10 until they iron out all foreseeable 'glitches', but I could be wrong.

The free upgrade is only for 12 months.

Edit: Did you have a look at the link to Kat's thread that I put up?
Kat has helped me with a couple of issues in the past.
