I have never bought/owned/worn a suit unless you count the private school uniform I had to wear. I swore I'd never again wear a suit in my life and haven't.
So you rock up to a rellie's funeral dressed in thongs, navy singlet and stubbies? Nothing like being the centre of attention at a Funeral, huh?
No need to go from one extreme to another. Last funeral I went to very few people wore suits, one before it too. I didn't wear one for my wedding so if they think I'm wearing one for a funeral... Buckley's and none are are the chances.
I've turned up at one or two in my work-clothes.
Both times it was unavoidable if I wanted to attend at all, and neither of
the deadies would have cared, they'd have probably done the same. And
neither did their families and their other friends. A funeral isn't a fashion
parade, after all.
Normally, however, I wear a suit coat over a shirt and tie, black slacks or
jeans, and black shoes for most weddings, funerals etc.
Actually, I
did wear a suit
once, when my mom re-married in 1983, as I
had the job of giving her away...
