I'm even more sorry I never studied the Italian language. There are just so many words in Italian that were hijacked from the English language over the centuries. It really is quite extraordinary. We should be demanding a copyright royalty.

I would go, except I'm afraid I would be kidnapped by soccer clubs to teach them how to play soccer at a professional international standard.

When I first arrived in Sydney's migrant factories from God's Own Country back in '61 (or was it '62?) - I was the only Pom or Australian amongst the Ethnic hordes. Being English - they all assumed I must be super-proficient with a soccer ball. Truth was, having arrived in the UK from China I had no interest in any field sport whatsoever. Embarrassed

But I kept this quiet. I promised I would coach them one day during the holidays. Roll Eyes

When the years passed and they eventually realised I had not the slightest interest in The World Game - they damn near lynched me. What could I say except ... Tongue

My niece was sounding me out the other day to go for a trip with her, but I'm strictly a home-body nowadays. Spaghetti out of a tin is the closest I get to Mama Italia nowadays.
