I was going to do some gardening today, but then it started raining.  I did buy some pot plants from Bunnings while I was there this morning though.

My gardening has been getting somebody to mow the grass. They say they will come fortnightly but they don't.  It is absolutely irritating.  Grin Absolutely is not an "f-word" but means the same.  Grin Grin

Buy yourself a small electric lawnmower and do it yourself so you don't have to rely on anyone. I used to have a petrol mower, but it was always difficult to start - then I bought a hand mower, which was OK, but you have to go over the same area a dozen times. Now I've got an electric one which is light and efficient.

I enjoy mowing the lawn and doing the edges. It makes me feel good when I pull into the driveway and it's well manicured and it's good exercise. My husband freaks out when I do it because I wear thongs and have bare legs but it's still too hot for anything else up here.

I can't do this, but I'm doing it anyway.

Same, same Annie, thongs and shorts and exercise, but I can't say I like doing the mowing, but like you, it's nice to drive in and see the lawn freshly mowed.

I never use a whipper snipper, avoided a serious accident by a centimetre years back and haven't touched one since. I use roudup for the edges, only if it's not windy though.

Hi
Not sure if you are talking about a fence (if so how high do you want and what is it to keep out?

or

Are you talking about building up the raised garden edges in which case I suggest those green treated pine sleepers

Dogs, a big one.  Considered chicken wire because I can build it cheaply.

Chicken wire?  If I were you, I would:-

1. Teach Big Dog to stay off the vegie patch

2. Not bother growing vegies

3. Grow flowers instead

4. IF you must grow vegies, get rid of Big
Dog

Maybe six or eight foot metal tomato stakes and chicken wire, the cheapest way to build a fence and you can do it yourself. Would be easy for just a vege patch. You can attach the wire to the stakes using plastic tie wire (zippy ties).

Why?

Sarahs Mum said she had a BIG DOG. Dogs don't eat vegies. Should she decide whether she should have a vegie garden OR a dog.  I would, most definitely, go with the Dog.  Grin

My uncle maimed his toes from mowing the lawn barefoot... When I see somebody doing it, it makes me cringe.  Shocked
