Well the first thing you'd say about newman is that he is a dill to ever let himself get put into that electorate.
on that basis alone he shows incredibly bad judgment.
And he will lose it, kate Jones is very popular and she has good social intelligence.
Sort of like Anna Bligh with an IQ 40 points higher

all true, however your first previous statement (to the one quoted) was still al load of hogwash ... if Ashgrove were full off 'rock solid greenie intellectuals, public servant middle managers, naturopath-attending, soy latte drinking urban trendies.its the epicentre of the leftard intellectual' Newman would never have won that seat  Cheesy Cheesy

Well no because he has shown no social intelligence.

in a similar way to Abbott, he came in after a period of wasteful unsustainable spending by moronic female labor politicians who wouldn't be able to hold a job as treasurer managing a school P and C budget.

But what Campbell and Tony have failed to do (and why they will both get the flick) is to sit down in a calm and rational manner and ENGAGE the Australian public (or the Qld public in campbells case) that we are going to fix this but not in a haphazard, poorly explained and often irrational way.

If your mum and dad overspent on the bankcard and the bank was about to repossess the house and you were a teenager, youd be happy to all pull together to undo the damage PROVIDED they kept you informed and engaged and they had good communication skills.
Youd say, OK, no Christmas presents this year, I'll eat Aldi mince and baked beans.....lets all pull together.

But both Campbell and Tony have shown such awful communication skills, such aloofness and condescension. Such arrogance. They have not carried anyone with them.  The suburban battlers need to be engaged and you need a bonza good bloke with great rapport and communication skills to do this.

Abbott and Campbell simply have the completely wrong persona to engage the public. If they were the CEO of a small business, it would be a failure, because they do not understand leadership, people skills ,

They could have watched Winston Churchill with his
"pots and pans drive to build armaments to fight the hun" they could have carried the whole population forward in a drive against leftard intellectual BS merchants like Rudd .
Instead, they have stuffed up and the population will pay a terrible price.
That price will be learning to speak mandarin and work as slave labour for our new chinese overlords.
game of thrones indeed. My kids are learning an Asian language and I will hitch my boat to the winning team.   Wink

The people that loaded the Budget with unsustainable spending were Howard and Costello. Gillard and Swan cut $180Bn of wasteful spending out the Budget. The first moves against wealthfare (the super rort) were undone by Abbott/Hokey.

Abbott and Hokey increased spending and the offsetting savings were never going to pass the Senate.

Abbott never expected to be re-elected PM and is only upset over his really really bad polling because it will embolden the Senate crossbench in blocking his foul and cruel measures.

We need a Labor govt with control of the Senate to start the task of repairing the Budget for real.

Senate control isn't necessary, just the political ability to propose legislation that has a chance of passing both Houses.

Yeah, any seasoned politician should be able to negotiate Bills through the Senate.

But the SPEED that will be needed to get to work building infrastructure including the NBN, to rebuild the Budget and remove the last traces of Howard’s irresponsible spending from the Budget and so on will need a really cooperative House and Senate. The Greens will insist on saving too much middleclass welfare for their inner city professional base and waste time on non-essentials and posturing generally.

For example, apart from monkey himself the Greens are the keenest for his unaffordable unnecessary PPL.

so its looking like an LNP win - but with the premier losing his seat...

interesting - will they then parachute Newman into a safe seat and force a by-election? If not, who will be the next premier?

There's been plenty of talk up here about that.  "Boof head" Seeney.  Nah.  "The Borg."  Nah.  John Paul "Loeneuuasangbruuike."  Nah.  Me Old Mate Mark McArdle......very close friend and professional partner of a thief.  Nah.

Current Treasurer, Tim Nicholl?

Probably.

Not sure it really works to make fun of Langbroek's name, considering that Palaszczuk has also got a name that one has to look up to spell and pronounce correctly.

Don't know the man, personally, but do know some frontline staff who were retrenched sacked under his 'no frontline staff will be affected' policy.

So, make that a NO, for me.
