Heroic feat
Dec 15th, 2014 at 1:42pm

Check out this fellow's ability to stand bare-foot on the bonnet of a car at midday ~ notice the shadow.

Incredible.

At least one of them's wearing thongs:

...

Can't tell because of the angles whether the other bloke is.

It's a shame though, otherwise you could have called the thread... wait for it... heroic feet!

And that helps you work out whether the other bloke's got thongs on? Puh-leaze.

I can clearly see that his left foot is not shod in  any way.  You?

Correct.

When I was looking at the previous photos of this series, I was impressed how these guys were moving bare-foot over ground that was rough and sharp with stones and sticks, and then I came to this photo of the guy standing on what is sheet-metal in the middle of the day.

I've been out there in the bush in the midday sun, and that metal must be as hot as a BBQ griddle.

Weeeeellll, Walter, let me tell you how it was in the days of Aussie Junior Burger.

No-one wore shoes to Primary School or anywhere except if our Mothers dragged us off to Sunday School.  The first 14 years of my life went almost exclusively barefoot, and as a result, I could walk over bindies and not feel a thing.  Under the feet was like leather.

And then..............High School happened.  Had to wear shoes.

Now ~ I whinge and wail like a banshee if my (very rare) bare foot hits anything irregular.

No big deal the car is white.

A colour temperature  chart will show white is the coolest colour of all when left in the sun,if he was standing on a black ute then it would be somewhat impressive.

I see they don't really care for their traditional clothes, they prefer made in China.

Junk science.

My brother had a white Datsun ... trust me, you could fry bacon rashers to a crunchy crisp in just a few short minutes on the bonnet if in the sun.

Perhaps a digital thermometer will tell the difference, but certainly not bare skin pressed against the bonnet.

His feet should be registered as lethal weapons.

A kick to the sternum would shatter the bone and rupture your heart.

junk science my ass herbie it is a fact.

This is the reason why some aeroplanes can only be painted white, other colours get too hot which gets too close to the Tg number with the resin used in manufacture resulting in it going soft and falling out of the sky.

Doesn't surprise me a scrap.

Similar experiences when I was a young 'un. About the only thing we feared were cat's-head burrs - they even punctured the tyres on our pushies. Although we could buy special tyres at double the price of the originals.

I once worked with a bunch of house-movers. The patriarch, who never wore any type of foot covering, went to the doctor about a persistently sore foot. It transpired that he'd trodden on a carpet tack and, after wearing the head off, the spike kept working deeper into his heel. You certainly couldn't see it.

The doctor commented on the 80mm callouses on his feet!

Horses hooves are notoriously tender and susceptible to rot and penetration by foreign objects.

(I just thought I'd chuck that in as a sweetener).  Tongue

Exactly right.

If I remember correctly, you and I went to the same Primary School, and I remember all too well being laughed at on my first day of school for being the only student wearing shoes.

I didn't wear them on the second day, or any subsequent day after that.
