I have been working in the garden on my new roses, second time around had roses got pissed off with "black spot" and am trying again. Some folks never learn!

If Black Spot doesn't get them Powdery Mildew or any number of rose viruses probably will. Good luck with them though and show us some pics when they are blooming.

water is the secret with great roses. red.. lots and lots of that stuff that comes out of the sky if you can get it...as for black spot.. I pick the leaves off pop them in a bag and in the bin...dont let evena leaf remain..start from when it starts and its not a prob....its mould you know and it spreads on the breeze...my roses need dead heading right now but its too damn hot... for me not the roses...lol

Too many problems with them for a very short show of beauty when they bud, then they turn scrappy. I am a lazy gardener. I put a lot of work into the initial stages but then like to sit back and enjoy the relatively hassle free outcome of my hard work.

smell the roses pansi.. it works.. I have a smashing one at my front door as you come by it wafts over you... I notice its almost always the deep red ones that have the scent.. its not heady like Jasmine or jonquils..which give me a headache,... but I agree they are work..

im pretty sure you got that rose off the net and the reason its water marked..

only water roses at the bottom of the trunks, it'll help with black spot....

I like hybrid T roses.. I used to have stacks of the but now im down to Blue Moon, Cardinal Red, First Love, Kings Ransom and Alpine Sunset...

Have you smelt the flowers in the supermarket cods? they have no smell....what the heck do they grow these days, they look nice, but not a hint of floral scent. Maybe when they're cut the smell goes away, who knows? I'm no gardener, obviously lol!

Anyway, I do love the smell of fresh roses in the garden.....not my garden, I can only grow weeds.

Jonquils are my all time favourite flower, they used to grow wild down the paddock near where I lived as a kid.....I love tulips too.

Jasmine gives me a headache.....never get jasmine incense.

Yes photo is off the net. I dont have any photos yet as I only started back into roses again this year.

I bought it, Peach Profusion, Home & Garden and several Icebergs from the photo website (Treloar Roses)

no I dont pansi.. to me if something smells you get it as you walk past....I used to be able to smell bananas...lol.. those were the days...

what is this generation missing out on...even food cooking doesnt smell like it used to...remember those bakeries pansi???.... you couldnt walk past them...... not now...

Jonquils I love the look as I do with most plants but their perfume doesnt like me...Daphnie is the same...have you been to Perth their what we call cottage garden flowers grow as wild flowers over there...... lupins everywhere beautiful..
