Newborn Baby Tossed Down Sydney Drain

Despite having no physical injuries, Inspector Lagats said it is unlikely the baby would have survived today's heat if he was not found.

"It was already undernourished and dehydration would have taken effect," Inspector Lagats said.

Stinking hot in Sydney today so the poor little thing would not have lasted long. Despicable act.

They could easily have left the baby on a doorstep or somewhere it would obviously be found but, instead, they tossed it down a 2.5 metre drain hole.

I am losing my faith in humanity. Why do people have to be so cruel and treat children/babies and animals as disposable to be tossed aside like rubbish?

It might not have been her, it could have been her father or the baby's father, maybe a family honour thing. Who ever did it should be named and shamed though.

However, I lost my faith in humanity years ago.

While this act both sickens and saddens me, it in no way surprises me.

I could maybe understand post natal depression if the mother lashed out and hurt the child or just dumped it somewhere ... but dropping the baby down a small concrete hole in a deep drain alongside a freeway on a 40 degree day shows forethought and a deeply evil intent.
