Looks more like one of my Cabbie mates than Gough! Poor bastard died of prostate cancer.
Poor fellow indeed, Aussie.
It's a 40 degree day in Sydney today, and it occurred to me that in 30 years time there's going to be a hell of a peak in the incidence of death by skin cancer.
I'm thinking especially of all those thousands of 20-something year olds who are now building all those new villa houses on vacated quarter acre blocks.
I see them sweating away with their bricklaying and their nail-guns working in the blazing heat.
The lucky ones will be the Pacific Islanders and the other naturally tanned fellows.
But an awful lot of Caucasian types will start seeing skin specialists in 30 years time.
Personally I'm lucky because I've got ethnic skin from my French and Portuguese ancestors, but my brother wasn't so lucky.
He inherited his genes from the Scottish, English, and German side of the family. Had melanoma starting to eat away at his face. A real shocker.
