Whilst I fully agree with the sentiments, its not Anthony Abbott doing the deals its the LNP doing the deals, Abbott is only their office boy!

Give Tony a break - he is obviously having a tilt at the record for the least honest PM ever.

You can not have a serious go at this title without setting yourself up by making promises that you have no intention of keeping.

I don't know if he can beat Howard but he sure is doing all he can to get across the line.

Abbott was hoping his statement not to negotiate would convince voters to give him control of both houses because he promised he could be trusted.....When he did not have control of the Senate he believed his mate Palmer would support his right wing austerity agenda so he introduced a budget that would punish the non believers.....The problem was Palmer is more of a populist than Abbott and wants the electorate to think he is opposing Abbott's right wing agenda whilst secretly negotiating his own dirty deals to let most of it pass.....In the end Abbott and Palmer will both get what they want and the electorate will be left wondering why they got sucked in by two of the most deceitful assholes to ever enter Parliament!!!

Palmer is playing the populist because he did not get his way with the LNP.....Its called pay back and Clive is using his influence to get what he wants whilst making the LNP squirm a bit.....Clive is still delivering Abbott's right wing agenda in dribs and drabs whilst trying to appear as though he cares about ordinary Australian's...My guess is the education and health reforms proposed in the Abbott Governments budget will get through with Clive's support....PUP is finished but not before they help Abbott deliver his right wing austerity policies and change our nation into the 53rd State of America!!!

Again Australia's politicians will be strung up by their words.

Promising no deals with minor parties sounds like a good thing in principle until you realise that's how parliament works, and is 100% necessary to pass legislation in all but a majority house of reps and senate (God help us if that happens).

The election of the
Abbott government
- based  on a record
MASSIVE series of LIES
- has opened the flood-gates to a
very bad
( ... and probably irreversible)
trend in elections and politics, in this country

"Blind Freddy"
could see - from consistent polling - that had the
LibNats
gone to the election with their
TRUE AGENDA
of ...

1. Introducing a new medical services tax

2. A six month wait after retrenchment, for any unemployment welfare assistance

3. Axing promised "on the same ticket as Labor" Gonski education reforms

4. Slowing the rate of aged pension increases

5. Hockey's "war on the poor" - as revealed by Treasury figures

6. Funding cuts to ABC and SBS broadcasting services

... the
LibNats
would
NOT
have won the 2013 Federal Election

And it "justifies"
Labor
lying their arses off, in 2016, on the argument
"we had no choice, to create an even playing field"
when up against the
LibNats

political realities dictate what you do.  Given that labor opposes most govt legistalion and the greens oppose every bill no matter what (with labor as well) then Abbott has no choice but to negotiate with the cross-benchers.

but you seem to not understand the meaning of 'deals'.  Gillard made a deal with the greens for their support (such as it was) and it was to bring in the carbon tax she categorically promised not to do.  You all seemed happy with that. She promised the Twin Traitors all manner of funding to get their two votes and of course Wilkie... poor old Wilkie.  She promised him anything and everything (and deliver nothing).  they are DEALS.

Palmer wanted retrospective removal of the CT.  Abbott refused.
Palmer wanted a Senate enquiry into QLD.  Abbott refused
Palmer has wanted a number of other 'deals'.  Abbott refused

IN essence, Abbott has negotiated passage of contentious legislation by the content of the bills themselves.  No side deals.  no promises for special this or special that.

this is the kind of favour-free leadership we have craved for a number of years. No wonder you don't recognise it.
