I have no sympathy for him.
The e-mails were not private (policy) and he knew it.
His comments are indefensible.
Trying to blame socialism or Marxism (not the same thing at all) is silly, and plain wrong.
I'd have sacked him, not suspended him.
Whatever happened to 'tolerance' for different points of view, and 'free speech' in a democracy, and 'liberalism', and 'progressivism', and all those warm-and-cuddly socialist values?
If it's a white Anglo Westerner making a politically incorrect comment in private ~ it's not on, and he gets suspended.
But if it's a Muslim calling for 'beheadings' and rioting in the streets of Sydney ... the university they attend as a student will not suspend him.
Ditto Abos burning the Australian flag in public and stamping on its ashes.
The Prof's
real sin is being a white Anglo-Saxon.
He has become the victim of the reverse side of Proactive Discrimination.
Classical socio-fascist thinking, Herb, the 'rules' are made so loose and so biased and so open to subjectivity that nobody accused in any way has any rights any more.
I warned explicitly against this in my opposing view to the introduction of 'uniform domestic violence' laws that created offences out of nothing more than accusation and lack of proof, and which were and are then used to exercise 'legalised' violence against the accused.
In keeping with the old level of jurisprudence here that I constantly warn about as well... the presumption of guilt by the 'judge' etc, and the way such persons, almost universally, will bend over backwards to find 'guilt', as opposed to following the legal requirement of all and any doubt being on the side of the accused, even in the most absurd situation.
Then they wonder why Muslims and others in the streets consider it fair game to behave outside the law - when the law itself is a crime, then what law is there in reality? Only the law of force...... and violence.....
So - when you remove any rights, you walk a dangerous path, and one that will one day blow up in your face.
