two years ban on owning another dog and $600 fine..

why do we bother charging these people...

a $600 fine is hardly a punishment for ill treatment..

will a fine like that prevent others being cruel...

I dont think so.

Know the enemies of a civil society by their public behaviour, by their fraudulent claim to be liberal-progressive, by their propensity to lie and, above all, by their attachment to authoritarianism.

"He said the RSPCA investigated more than 14,000 cases of animal cruelty each year in NSW alone."

That's a disturbing figure.

People like that are gutless cowards, they take out their retardation on helpless animals. Yes, they are abundant. People like that make want to support population control.

It seems like everything is solved with money these days, isn't it? Like drink-drivers and people who speed, most of the time they cop a fine, though it varies. Does it make any difference? Not really.

Then there's people who don't pay their fines or debts... you'd be surprised how many people get away with not paying it. Unnoticed, almost like they're invisible.

This bloke was caught thankfully and at least got some punishment regardless of how small it was. Think of the thousands, probably millions of abused animals in this country where owners inflict cruelty on their pets in the privacy of their own backyard and there is no-one around to witness it.

Same goes for abused children.

How is it possible that the magistrate can allow this cruel offender to start collecting animals all over again after a ban of only five years?

This sort of leftwing liberal-progressive ideology has no place in a court of law.

A local Penrose woman appeared in Wollongong Local Court last Wednesday to face two charges of aggravated animal cruelty. 57 dogs and two birds had been seized from the woman property. The woman was convicted, placed on an 18-month good behaviour bond and banned from owning animals for a period of five years.

She might have been an elderly woman - we don't know. Even though these hoarders subject their animals to the most horrific cruelty through sheer neglect - their intentions are usually well meaning. They just haven't got the ability to look after so many animals and can't see that.

Hopefully most of the animals can be saved.

Better some LW ideology to inflict a little punishment rather than RW ideology where animals are considered inanimate objects ie live cattle trade, factory farming etc.  Profits take consideration over treating animals humanely.

Still 5 years is too short a punishment. It should be a life ban. These people won't change and will fall back into their old habits given a chance.

I wasn't thinking in terms of punishment, but simply putting animals permanently out of reach of people like her.

I take your point that in this case she is most likely mentally ill and her perspectives are delusional.

All the more reason she should be barred from any future ownership. I read of these cases again and again where these sort of people are given just a couple of years or so without animal ownership before then being free to resume their former behaviour.
