Abbott's Wait For Dole Would Breach Human Rights
Sep 30th, 2014 at 6:21am

A bipartisan parliamentary report has found the Federal Government will breach its international obligations if it goes ahead with its budget proposal to force young jobseekers to wait six months for unemployment benefits.

The tough welfare measure is due to be debated in Parliament this week and the Government is negotiating with crossbench senators to get the bill passed.

Since when has the Abbott mob worried about human rights?

Why should our young people have to wait six months for the dole, or for that matter even one month?.      Angry

Or even one day?

There should only be one question at Centerlink:

Are you unemployed?

A yes - should get you the dole straight away.

Now there is one frigged up human right, the right to sit on ones @rse from the day you are born to the day you die and have the rest of society wet nurse you from cradle to grave.

Quick, the best thing we can do for anybody is to make life extremely easy and place them on cradle to grave welfare as soon as possible.

Yet if the temporarily unemployed did not get unemployment benefits any downturn would be made deeper and longer.

Dole bludgers do exist—I used to rent flats to them—they are a small part of the unemployed.

Helping people get back on their feet benefits society—no crimeemployed by desperate un—and the economy, private spending doesn’t drop as much compared to not paying the dole.

Cradle to grave dole bludgers, don't pay a lot of taxes, and don't really have a job at any point in their lives, so I don't see the point of your reply.

The dole should be used to tie you over between jobs, not give you and option to stay unemployed for ever.

Talk about time limiting the dole and I will be more than happy to discuss making access easier.

Of course it's a breach of human rights.

But don't expect that to stop this filth.

Constitutions, rights and international obligations mean nothing to these fools.

We should not time limit the dole.  Hands up all the unemployed, that know how long they will be out off work.  Holly gee, have a look at that.  I cant see any hands up.      Sad

Well, I certainly won't be talking about it until and unless there actually is full employment again, with enough jobs for all.

Until then, it is an option only a fool would embrace, and, like most of Abbott's vindictive welfare 'policies', should never even
be considered..

Thank goodness you don't run Centrelink, otherwise it'd have to change names to Rortlink.

You'll find the truth is that you can work for 20 years in a job -
get retrenched - & the dole office won't want to know you.

They'll find 1001 excuses to not pay you a cent.

Been there, so?

I got over it and focused on becoming employed, not on getting welfare.

Saved me from having to go to the dole office and hanging around dole bludgers and dealing with idiot public servants.

Very few countries have cradle to grave welfare, even most of europe, and none have permanent full employment.

Why do you think reffos want to come here, we are an easy touch and every bludging bastard knows it.

You should be given enough money to live for a limited period of time and then you will be highly motivated to not be a permanent parasite on society.
