Watching the women on the "The Grill" segment on the Today Show on Nine defend Gillard. Highly amusing that they say she was targeted because she was a women when everyone else knows she was targeted because she was simply a failure as PM regardless of her gender. She used her gender as an excuse, plain and simple.

I dont recall all this TARGETING they refer too.. was it any worse than any other PM.?????..

the worst thing she did was bring in the poor me its all because I am a female..crap...I only watched Howard for about 10 min and when they showed her making her infamous speech even those behind her looked uncomfortable.. even she would have to see that...

but its done and dusted they all make mistakes..its owning them that counts.

I did notice that on Abbott's first day as PM, he was wearing a blue tie. A back-hander aimed at Gillard and her misogyny rant? Maybe!  Grin

Armpit approves of misogyny? Why am I not surprised?

Wearing a blue tie is an act of misogyny now? LMAO!!!!  Grin Grin Grin

why don't you walk through a jewish town wearing a swastika?

A blue tie, because of her speach, has meaning and is not just a blue tie... no surprise that that was beyond you!

Neither of the Iraq wars caused the threat posed by ISIL. They were borne out of their struggle against the Assad regime in Syria and have nothing whatsoever to do with either Iraq war. If you bothered to read, you'd know that.

And if you bothered to think.........................what's the point.

end of discussion? no, you can discuss the symbolism all you like ... just don't pretend it doesn't exist

A blue tie in parliament now means much more than just a blue tie

but lets face it, symbolism is far to complicated for you

blue ties are very common for pollies because they photograph well and don't go weird on TV.  take a good look.  MOST wear them and that is the reason why.  it was one of Gillards sillier statements.

boofheads like gerorge (and Gillard) confuse attacks with sexism.  Howard was subject to the most appalling abuse by lefities during his term and far, far worse than Gillard was and indeed so was Rudd.  Gillard actually got off lightly but being the dope she is, EVERY attack was sexist.

She set the agenda of women in the ALP back 20 years.

Correction: the ALP set the agenda of women in the ALP (and everywhere) back at least 20 years with the institution of their ridiculous quota. Can there be any bigger slap in the face to womens' fight for equality than the fact that they can only get a position in the ALP because of a quota rather than through simply being the right person for the job?

You actually don’t know what Gillard said about men wearing blue ties? Why are you on a political board? Regurgitating Tele articles I suppose.

For a clue—watch her misogyny speech.

a claim by a think-skinned woman does not automatically make it true.  a blue tie has been worn for decades by MPs on all sides.  it means nothing and still means nothing.  it is just a tie.  after her idiotic statement, the men in her own party showed up at a press conference wearing... blue ties.  and it was not a protest. it was what they and everyone else wore. and still do.

the veracity of the claim in itself is now irrelevant ... the fact remains that she made it, blue ties are now, and for the forseeable future a symbol of that claim.

you don't have to believe her to reconginse the symbolism .. many people claim the genocide of the Jews was a fabricated lie, but they don't deny the symbolism of the swastika
