A day of waking up for Australia
Sep 18th, 2014 at 3:54pm

Rather than a sad day, in my view it is a day we should be thankful for.

We should firstly be grateful that these thuggish interlopers, brought amongst us by people who do not wish this country well, have not been able to accomplish what was in their evil minds.

Secondly we should be grateful that many more Australians will be roused from their apathy to see the threat that is around them, a threat that can only grow year after year. And that they will hopefully see the dangers posed by the apologists in the Greens and some sections of the Labor party.

Thirdly, we should be grateful that we have a government that has the vision to see the dangers and to enact increased security laws to do what we can to protect ourselves.

Know the enemies of a civil society by their public behaviour, by their fraudulent claim to be liberal-progressive, by their propensity to lie and, above all, by their attachment to authoritarianism.

So you now welcome spying across the board on every Australian on allegations.

If you support spying on every Australian, then you should support transparency of all bank accounts. This way cash going to illegal causes can be spotted.

They have enacted nothing new.  They propose to.

And the point coming out of that is ~ quite clearly our existing laws are sufficient.  Nothing new needs to be enacted.

New “anti terror” allow ASIO to perform torture short of death or serious injury, so waterboarding is OK.

What a spavined bloody country just lets this happen to it!

So Abbott is trying to improve the poll numbers and Shorten is helping.

I see the brain growing isn’t working.

The maniacs who nearly decapitated that British soldier in London had only a knife and a car. They don't need a crossbow.

That's what the intelligence services and police are for.

No. It's nonsense. Another plot was prevented, the threat remains similar to what is was in the past. Due to the current conflict we are stupidly involving ourselves in the threat might be increased, but it remains negligible, and it certainly will have zero effect on how i live my life. It's just another criminal act.

Hell no. The laws are clearly sufficient. They worked, didn't they? At some point an attack will succeed and short of becoming a police state nothing will prevent it.

The only reaction from Muslims is to clamour for victimhood status.

Abbott is just copying Little Johhny:

Howard deflects nation’s gaze away from the ball

Quote:
By announcing the existence of a specific terrorist threat yesterday, John Howard successfully shifted attention away from Labor’s favoured focus and onto the Government’s.

But in the process he used a megaphone to give suspected terrorists notice of raids. With two big, transformative bills coming before the Federal Parliament, Labor wanted to focus debate on one of them – the proposed changes to Australia’s industrial relations system.

But Howard preferred attention to be on the other – the counter-terrorism legislation that proposes a drastic increase in police powers over suspected terrorists

FGS, be suspicious of struggling pollies lying to get themselves out of trouble!
