No, he had a different first name (Thank God for small mercies) and Luke Skywalker was tagged on after that.

His brother had another one. I forget what it was now, either Darth Vader or Obi whatever.

I wouldn't have known (as second names rarely get used) except those in the office who had to fill out admission papers talked about it in the staffroom. Smiley

But with names, there is, for some unfathomable reason, a huge trend for parents to try to add as many double letters as they can, or to add y in odd places.

They don't seem to realise that child is going to have to spell out their name to officials all the time and they are going to be plagued with people making spelling mistakes on forms for the rest of their life, unless technology starts reading chips in our bodies or whatever else is the great new thing of the future.

A funny thing the snots and hipsters do is change the pronunciation of their ordinary  names to give it that exotic feel. Hearing somebody turn Joanne to Joarnne is pretentious and embarrassing.

Way too much time - names - who cares.

Funny though most bogans I have come across tend to have normal names - like Jason , Paul or Mick.

A lot of the names listed hare seem to be used by the more trendy, Caffe Latte sector. Some of the names look about right but many not.

Oh, sorry. I didn't notice the "second name" in your original post.

I'm short-sighted, but even with glasses, I missed it. My bad. Sad

I suppose at the time I was reading it, I really needed some coffee.

I think those ancient Roman names could be pretty long. I remember one guy who had a really long one, but don't remember who. It was probably quite common.

I just did a search. Take Constantine the Great for example, the one who reunited the Roman Empire after the reign of Diocletian, who partitioned it. His full name was Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus. Five words.

That's why I like standardised spelling of names. It avoids all that confusion. Cheesy

I wonder when we're going to be ditching our pens and pencils. Do they still teach handwriting in school? I hope we don't get a generation of people whose writing looks like Mr. Squiggle. If there was ever an EMP-attack and our power grid was knocked out and our computers became useless, we'd have to start drawing squiggles again.

Oh and Mr. Blackboard would be making a comeback too. Cheesy

Haha had a laugh at that, Mnemonic.

Other teachers used to say they could tell who had been in my Prep classes because they all had good handwriting. It's not that hard to teach, I just used blackboards and whiteboards and daily practice. Wink

I think it's good for children's co-ordination and dexterity and even their creative expression to be able to wield a pencil or a pair of scissors. Technology is good but it's not everything. Those on the autism spectrum though are probably going to manage better if you let them write on a computer. Writing is hell for them.

You probably find the beheadings hilarious then, or don't they count?

While we're talking about bogan names, Katie Price's selections are ticking all the boxes.

Apparently the first child was called Princess Tiaamii (who wouldn't love all the double letters, so trendy), now the second is called Bunny.
Why not just call her Bugs and be done with it. Smiley
