Trying to compete with AFL at 'Club Level', Trying to compete with Cricket at 'State Level'. It stopped being 'itself' and wanted what others had. State of Origin has dribbled away into boredom since its first 10 years.

Only on just about every occasion. And even then, it's occasionally teams other than New Zealand, England, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea. I rarely see those games. Not like the old days. New Zealand gets matches against Australia quite often. Then there's England that doesn't really play apart from it's other adjacent "countrymen" very much, and we see them in the world cup tournaments.

is such a defunct code after it turned its back on following its strength (Test Matches) and started to chase its weakness (Club level). Since then, everything has gone down hill for it. Gallop & Bennet said that "NRL must 'compete' with AFL" Roll Eyes

Even with many 'REfs' on the game - they get it even worse than the old days. Roll Eyes

NRL just should have stuck to playing its own game, but hey - seems the go to put the kick in the air and take the mark to score the try over the line now Tongue

Melbourne: Games = huge crowds
Clubs = small crowds
Sydney: Games = small crowds
Clubs = huge crowds.
...pretty simple formula of success without being greedy.

A Melbournian used to stay up late at night to watch the Kangaroos play against GB. A Melbournian, besides going to the NSW side of the Murray River for the 'Clubs', would walk into a Sydney Leagues Club and say "Look at all the People!" Shocked

But now the States are no longer 'different' with a GENERALISATION across the board in the name of BOREDOM.

Was looking that way but Manly have gone right off the track lately. A few key players out and they have been struggling unless they have been playing possum. I suppose we'll see Friday night.

Roosters snatched the MP from under the radar.

.......but I have a sneaky suspicion that it may well be a Rabbits v Roosters GF this year and with the bunnies finally getting over the line. Huh
