Palestine protesters occupy roof of Port Melbourne
Aug 16th, 2014 at 10:58am

Looks like some australian businesses are assisting in genocide Sad

Quote:
Protesters occupied the roof of a subsidiary of an Israeli arms manufacturer in Port Melbourne on Friday morning, in support of Palestine.

Elbit Systems of Australia is a subsidiary of an Israeli company that manufactures air and land drones and other defence equipment.

Sam Castro, a spokeswoman for the Melbourne Palestine Activist Group, claimed drones used in the Gaza conflict had been built by Elbit.

"[Israel is] creating an incremental genocide on the Palestinian people. This is not about the Jewish people, this is about a rogue state," she said.

Six protesters had been on the roof since 5.30am on Friday, she said.

The three men and three women climbed over the roofs to two neighbouring buildings under the cover of darkness to get onto the Elbit property, where one man flew the Palestinian flag.

A police officer appeared on the roof with protesters about 10am as they chanted "Free, free Palestine". A short time later all the protesters had left the roof – five voluntarily.

The six protester was carried off by police officers.  All were charged with trespassing but they were not taken into custody.

Alex, a 22-year-old Melbourne man, said he came down from the roof voluntarily and police had treated the protesters with respect.

"I want the Australian government to stop funding any companies arming the Israeli state," he said.

Ms Castro said the group planned to target other buildings in Melbourne and wanted the Australian government to cut military trade ties with Israel.

Elbit Systems of Australia's website says it supplies the Australian Defence Force and works with other Australian government agencies.

Fairfax Media is contacting the company for comment.

Elbit Systems is an Israeli-based, international defence company specialising in electronics, surveillance, drones and missile-guiding systems.

The company sells its equipment to a number of state militaries around the world, including France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and United States.

In 2009, Norway’s finance minister announced the country would withdraw all government investment in Elbit due to its involvement in building a security wall in the West Bank.

Denmark’s largest bank, Danske Bank, has Elbit on its list of companies excluded from investment because of the company’s involvement in “supplying electronic equipment in conflict with human rights norms”.

And apologists again take up the Israel bashing. I wonder when Australians will stop funding terrorism with so called donations to the "free palestine" movement? you know, the donations that end up buying bombs, rocket launchers?

When will people realise that donations to the Australian Zionist Movement go to stealing land from Palestinians and providing money to the Israeli defence forces to purchase bombs, rockets and artillery shells used to kill innocent Palestinians in Gaza?    Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Who knows.  Why don't you come out from behind the safety of your terminal and ask them?

Or do you prefer being gutless and making threats of terrorism anonymously?

Now, where is my phone?  I need to call 1800 1234 00

Very glib Mr Hotbreath.
BTW, I don't donate to the Zionist movement. I will wait until I can donate to the "remove islamic apologists" movement.

Mr Hotbreath, do you come out from behind YOUR keyboard occasionally and trumpet your support for the down-trodden "palestinians"? Do you go to the islam meetings or do you stay at home where it is safe? I think I know the answer to that.

When will the Gazan and West Bankers accept Israel's right to exist?
When they do, peace will follow immediately. Until then the Israelis have every right to defend themselves.
Had they accepted Israel in 1948, they would now have their own country and there would be no Jews in the WB.

Australia gives Palestinians over $1million per week in foreign aid, what does that buy some cheese and missiles for their kids?

Palestine is a basket case that relies on foreign aid.

The Israelis left the people of Gaza $14 million dollars worth hydroponic greenhouses producing food when Israel pulled out of the Gaza strip, the first thing muslims did was loot it.

What did the Iraqis do when the Saddam statues were brought down, they started looting everything.

Primarily agriculture and some light industry only.  However, there is no reason why they could not do as well as the Israelis in the same areas.  Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

If there is one thing that will get me to change the channel, it is when some world leader uses the term Middle East Peace Process. I have been hearing it for half a century.

Australia voted a terrorist into The Lodge, ergo, they are guilty.   Grin Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I wasn't aware that either the Hamas leadership or the Mad Monk had received 100% of the vote.  Why punish those who didn't vote for them?
